Mr Asante, Ghana is broke because of the way our stupid leaders are running the country. Mr Asante, this is the scenerio. Can you make a profit if you have your own company manufacturing let's say canned fish if you make $100,000 in revenue yearly but your salaries and wages expense alone is $73,000? If you are using 73% of your revenue to pay salaries alone before paying for the supplier of fish, cans, other factors of production, you will not be in business for long and you will go bankcrupt and that is the situation Ghana is in right now.
We use 73% of our budget outlays or revenue to pay government salaries due to the implementation of the SSSS policy, increase in government employess, 45 new constituencies, 45 new districts, creating positions at the seat of government to accomodate party supporters. We have also doubled the salaries of all three branches of government, Executive, legislature and Judiciary.
In 2009, only 25% of our budget outlay was used to pay salaries and wages of government workers and that left us more money to use for other projects. We used to have 75% of our budgets to pay interest on our deficit that was 9 billion dollars. Now with only 27% left to pay for interests on our 34 billion dollars deficit, not much would be left to embark on development projects like tarring roads so I am sorry to tell your ten year old son that, we will need more than hundred years to tar all roads in Ghana so it will not happen in his lifetime due to the stupidity of the people before him.

Our forest is also fast vanishing. Very soon we won't even have the polluted water to drink. Everybody is occupied with petty politics, religion, tribalism, etc.

Mr. Asante in this article voices deep concern about the way our nation is being run and I share the same views as him on this issue. There is no way Ghana can carry on like this, it's just bad.

Human beings are let to walk, even when they fall, they raise and walk again. The countries in the Pacific have their socioeconomic problems as well, but they were left on their own to manage or mismanage themselves. The problems of Ghana is that we want servitude in tranquility and why cry when you are on the lap of the dolls master. Real independence entails danger, but in the long run you dust of the dust. Ours is tranquility in dust, Danso Asante.

Ghana is not broke. The few Ghanaians that voted for this clueless government and president are the problems of Ghana. Just look at the caliber of people who are supposed to develop the country for us. They have no sense of development iota; in fact they are not competent!!!!. They thing upside down. They think of their greed, cheap talking,. Come again and try to talk to some of them; you will be disappointed more than those roads. Their time is near and I hope Ghana will see a new beginning. It is very soon.

We are incompetent to manage our own affairs because we have the knack for always picking the incompetent among us to govern. Interestingly we refuse to allow those who are competent to run our affairs. We are also a corrupt bunch and always choose the most corrupt and most vociferous politicians as our elected representatives. Bottomline is we are broke as a nation because we have mismanaged our resources.
Even the more humble and honest man of God, late President Mills sorrounded himself with pimps, wimps, nit-wits, deviants, derelicts, square pegs in round holes, kleptocrats, the mob , and completed the list with an organized Liars Choir made up of foul-mouthed propagandist under the able direction of Koku Anyidoho.
Mills was no political leader. He was a Jesuit Priest who had no control over the evil men around him. He gave them authority and power and they abused them like swine will trample over pearls cast before them . We hired a Jesuit Priest not a transformational political leader. When he fell terminally sick none among us needed prophetic discernment to ascertain there was zero tolerance for accountability and that the nation's internal administration has finally been thrown to the dogs.
Mahama was not lying nor mincing his words when he said "the meat is down to the bone." We are broke as a nation but that comes as no surprise to anyone who has been watching the unfolding drama with keen eyes.
As a people we've been chicken-hearted and spiritless and either sat on the fence or supported the despoilment with all the energy of our souls, and with some jumping on the gravy train. We are broke. The "meat is down to the bone." Perhaps the bone may have been eaten by now.
