I am very disappointed at the author for such a disgraceful article. I believe in education, but the idea that this solemn right of a citizen to choose his or her leaders should be given to just a section of the populace is insulting, segregational and elitism to say the least. This article should be condemned in no uncertain term.
People have fought and paid for this right with their very lives and to just rubish the opinions of a group of people based on their education is a clear exhibit of or example of an ignorant so called literate person. The fact that you type words and paste it on the net does not make you better than your grandmother who worked hard to put you through school. Are you implying that our forefathers and foremothers, fathers/mothers, brothers and sisters who were unfortunate to attend school to be able to read and write are incapable of making good decisions? In fact, if that is the case, humanity would have perished centuries ago.
Your suggestion itself is a manifestation that being able to write is not the answer to good judgement because you have failed that test a trillion times with this suggestion. There are professors, educated people with doctorate and masters degrees in positions of authority in Ghana, yet Ghana wallow in energy and water shortages, indiscipline, filt in the cities, etc. When I was a toddler in the village, the village chief could not read and write but he organised his subjects better than what is happening in Ghana now. The village was clean and there was discipline.You are a danger to society and democracy and you should be ashamed of yourself.
I can tell you that there are highly educated people everywhere in the world who would vote for only one candidate or party for ideological and fundamental reasons and not because they cannot read and write. People who cannot read or write are not stupid.
