Mahama needs to back his call with a real attempt at constitutional change granting all Ghanaians the right to vote and be voted for whether they are dual citizens or not.I know he cannot do this by executive order. He can support a bill to that effect. .NPP MPs should take up this cause since the dienfranchising of many Ghanaians was a direct result of NPP boycott of the deleberations of the 1992 constitution.

I said to you, on my last text that Ghana is now in need of a better power (electricity) to put the country on the go, and also make the country fit in to the current atmospheric wind blowing across the universe, therefore we had to forgo, leave behind our dependent on the Hydro electric power and find a better altenet.
On this note, I told you we have a Ghanian by birth (father & mother all Ghanians), who migrated into United State in 1999.
This Guy attended the Rutgers University. He is now a chief Engineer with NASA. this is the one who can put Ghana into the SOLA POWER SYSTEM. That is what he studied and that is what he is for. Go get him, speak with and you would see the best out of him. His name is Kwaku Ave Dr.
Contact this Guy, and I tell you he is one of the best guys from Ghana helping United States.
A word to a wise in enough so said our fore fathers.
Again every Ghana president, should always have a plan. Not so many but just one. Eg, if Mahama, puts electricity before him as his mandate, why can't he get a good result by 4yrs. ? And after that, if the next guy, puts before him water for all Ghaians, why can't he/ she get a good result by 4yrs. And if the other to come says a better economic system for 4 yrs, why can't he/ she have a better result?
This is what is tearmed as a better Vision. You can do it all at the same time, and all by your self, therefore, is should be one by one.
After, almost 70yrs. Of independents, why should Ghana a country of 150 sq. mailers go through all these headics like water and electricity?
Why would we always keep looking back to the imperior system that helped our fore fathers ( already) why can't we designed one also so that our Childrean would also enjoy and also designed one for the coming generation.
Let's put all these nonesence politicking aside and look forward, for we have been viewing the real mirror for long or for a long time.
If not than let us stop voting presidents, and give Ghana back to the British for life under their govenace was a better one.
LONG LIVE GHANA, GOD BLESS OUR HOMELAND.

Why has God given us a lot of gifts, like the so call person and we keep negglecting, abounding them, given them as gifts to other nations who are already gifted? Let's see what the Bible says, when a setting man was going on a trip, he gave is servants individually talents and told them to work with it. Upon his arrival, he collected from those who could not utilized their talents and gave it to those who already did utilized theirs.
Do Ghana wants to be like those fools who did not develop their talent? I believe NO. If this is it, than let us us our gifts squarely.
Why do we keep depending on only Ghanains confineded in our country?
Check this cluse out, in the constitution of Ghana, there is a cluse that says. Before some one becomes the president, or hold a higher office the person should live in the country for more that 5yrs. I belive this faction is outmoded and needs to be repealed.
Why, because those who has traveled and lived outside Ghana for more than 10yrs, are the people who have seen what goes on out there, so how can we relie on that outmoded system. If that is the case, than we hold never think of been like other advance countiries because people living in Ghana only and alone doesn't know any thing.
I even believe we should rither vote for people who have experienced live in different culture better than those who are only confineded with in the barriers of our country.
We need diffent ideas, innovations, and technicalities to move this country into the 21st and 22nd century of advancement in the Job market, in social and economic advancement. So let us tape this knowledge from our brothersvand sisters abroad. Let us creat seats for them in our parliament, eg. Qualified people who live in the great 8 nations, fitted from the countiries in which they reside, and come home to spend about one tearm of service of about 5yrs, why 5yrs, so that the sreve a year into the next government who would be elected before another is brought in.

Sounds good, but some things cannot easily be transferred to another country.
Sometimes, you are able to transfer a part, but other significant complementary factors might be missing in the new environment.
Homegrown forces will claim greater familiarity with the environment, but 'abroadees' will say 'this is how it is done in london and new york.'
In the end, the abroadee might stop reading, and attend funerals, have several female lovers, join the unproductive elite class, or drink akpteshie.
Mine is a cynical view, so do not rely on it. Sometimes, the loyalty of the abroadee is to the foreign country where he or she stayed.
And many really have not learned anything new abroad. Mystification is what they live on.
Abroadees might be more corrupt because their taste has changed, and they might need more ill-gotten gains than the home grown guys.
Abroadees have seen things the Ghanaian-based guys have not. Exposure to other ways of doing things is an asset of the abroadee.
But what if the abroadee still believes in witchcraft? What if the abroadee still sees things in the context of his or her tribe only?

This is one of the finest interesting articles I've ever read here about the plights of the 'brain drain' exodus Diaspora Ghanaians.
The only piece I'd add up is the neglegence of the Diaspora Ghanaians by all the past & present govts. for not creating & appointing a MINISTER OF DISPORIAN AFFAIRS within their ministerial posts in our parliament during formation of new cabinet ministers.
Whiles some other African countries like Morocco -for example- has set up such a special ministry next to the ministry of foreign affairs to lobby the concerns of her Diasporian nationals wherever they might be located outside the country.
I do also support your attention given to our president on this issue & let's all hope that he also will not skip creating such a unique ministry before he leaves office.
Well, as you said: We are watching & still waiting also (my added part)!!!

The Government should back its call with action by setting up a new Ministry of Diasporean Affairs to bring back Ghanaian expatriates and deploy them to national service.

It was such a pleasure and delight reading your article. You goofed and almost marred its beauty and relevance by the negative inference that the NPP is a property owing party. The NPP has always been capitalist influenced and there is nothing inherently wrong with that. My preference is not for socialism,a Marxist theory transitional between capitalism and communism and distinguished by unequal distribution of goods and pay according to work done.
That said your article is well on point. The suggestion that we need all ghanaian shoulders to the wheel is a no brainer.
Most nations including the Nazis have often reached out to their sons and daughters in the diaspora and invited them to return to help build their nations. It's a puzzle why we can't do same here.
The reasons vary. Some of our laws need to be changed, For instance a ghanaian with dual citizenship is barred from becoming a parliamentarian or even from holding a position like minister of state.
Some of the reasons are borne out of envy, fear and insecurity. We are all ghanaians and none should be excluded from the nation building exercise. We need every brain, every limb, every voice, every muscle that can help to give a leg up to our development efforts.
Ghanaians, including our decision makers back home very often are more inclined for whatever reasons to give preferential treatment to foreigners , expatriates, than they would give their own kith and kin who have lived outside the borders of Ghana. We have enough human resources to build a very prosperous nation. The longer we wait to harness all our resources especially human for this purpose the longer we delay our own growth and development. All the shenanigans, pettiness, enviness, insecurity, fear, etc. must cease before a new Ghana can be rebuilt from the ashes of hatred, corruption, cronyism, nepotism, envy, tribalism, laziness, greed. selfishness, ineptitude, mediocrity notoriety, etc. For far too long we've allowed ignorance to breed monsters to fill the vacancies of the soul that are unoccupied by the verities of knowledge.
It's not so important who starts the work than who finishes it.Let's see more passion , fire in the belly from every ghanaian, regardless of where they have lived, had their education and have worked.

On the one hand you accuse the NDC of not making use of Ghanaian diaspora and then make a list of people who have been brought in to serve in various roles. If you are in the diaspora and want to serve your country, why don't you make yourself available? Nigeria is a very bad example to cite if you ask me.

Mr. Norvo I will begin by applauding you for this well putt article Kudos my brother. But I disagree to some point. The president of Ghana will always put people he think and trust to get the job done but it as to us the people of Ghana is to drop our attitude of (THAT THE WAY WE DO THINGS HERE) and never want to change for any better, we can bring in all the diaspora expertise still we can 't get anything done done, my brother the problem in Ghana is corruption we have a government that pretends to be for the protection of people, but is selecting vendors based on how their contracts will benefit them personally. they have path that you the diaspora should work on the skills and the knowledge you acquire from outside Ghana will not work if you have such people around the environment. my friend do think they not calling Dr. Spio because of what? is because he always oppose their personal interest that why don't want him in their team. we can debate on this all day,. Ghanaian diaspora can make a deference but they can't work in this environment until we the people in Ghana we change ( THIS IS THE WAY WE ARE , THAT IS THE WAY WE DO IT attitude.
