he outh from both sides are the ones fueling fueling he conflict./ they are the ones who cary the weapons and they are the ones who fire the guns. peace can come and will only come if the youth form both sides decide tell heir people people form both divide to forgive. forgiveness is the only tool that can bring peace. no politician, no big man, no religipous man or clegy can do it. rember the jews and the germansa- the jews suffered worse atrocities from the germans but today we only know of their problem from history books; they decided to forgive and forget and today their children and today's generation are enjoyin peace and life. however difficult it may be it is possible to solve this problem through forgiveness because others have done it before. we too can do it.

My dear brother, you are absolutely right on the issue of the youth, and also forgiveness as a way of putting our pains behind us and forging together as one people. And i agree with totally. However, what i also think that the youth need leaders who can help get them out from the situation. We all can help in advocacy but again we will need direction from such leaders who can rally support and bring the youth of both ethnic divide together. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

In order to address these so called conflicts that have destroyed this beautiful town, two things in my opinion needs to happen at all times. First, just as we have regional balance in the appointments of ministers at the national level, when it comes to Bawku, there has to be ethnic balance. Allow me to explain. If for any reason regardless of party affiliations, the MP happens to be a Kusasi as in the case of Ayariga, the Municipal Chief Executive must be a Mamprusi or a sympathiser there of. And vice versa. There are NDC memebers in the Mamprusis of course. This creation of balance, will always fill the void that is left due to lack of leadership. You have two Kusasi leaders in Musah and Ayariga, who cannot address the issues of half of the district ( Natinga and surrounding environs) or constituency. The inter ethnic peace council even though a lauderble idea, is not enough. Secondly, the Bawku chief needs to do more to reach out to the other side. Yes it's difficult, but it can be done. Any leader who cannot embrace these diversities is not fit for leadership in this part of the country. The problem is created, and it has to be contained. If I were the chief of Bawku, and this is my opinion. I would have appointed a sub divisional chief for Natinga, who will be answerable to me. But that sub divisional chief will help provide leadership in that part of town. Just as they have a subdivisional chief for Zawse, Agoli, etc. This will help to advance the course of peace in the mean time, whilst other avenues are thoroughly researched. Here, you have the MP and District chief executive's who are only interested in enriching them selves through foul means. More over, they are young; and it is difficult to broker peace with elderly people. Talk is cheap. It is easy to sit in Accra and call a press conference and say anything, after all, in Ghana the media will cover every story. Be it a farmer beating the wife, or stealing a guinea foul. When it comes to doing the tough work of solving issues in Bawku and governing, Musah and Ayariga have proven time and over again that they cannot do it. So therefore, something has to be done to engage people from both sides.
