Although I dislike those who insult other tribes, I believe the glory that Asanti enjoys today in Ghana is as a result of factors that have nothing to do with Asantis as people, and their glory is modern and not ancient.
The main reason for Asantis prosperity is its location between the North and the South, and between the East and the West. Until recently, the three Northern regions including Northern Volta buy 100% of locally and foreign manufactured goods from Kumasi.
Although they hide behind cocoa and gold, the real mover of the their glory and prosperity is commerce. Apart from other areas, the Northern half of Ghana is a big market for the Asantis.

These are traditions of the people and their religion which we must not necessarily dispute because all ethnic groups have them.
You are talking of self glorification? Which ethnic group doesn't do it. Go to the North and see the various names that the Dagomba use on ethnic groups who are also from the North.
If you study the history of Ghana, the Asante's formed a kingdom as the world knew at that time, just as the Mosi,Hausa and Fulani.

Defecation at Ho stadium 'unacceptable'
Management of the Volta Regional Sports Secretariat on Thursday bemoaned the practice of open defecation in and around the Ho Sports Stadium.
A statement signed by Mr Kofi Abdallah, Acting Volta Regional Sports Director and copied to the Ghana News Agency observed that some residents, young and old were defecating around the playing field even during working hours.
The statement described the act as unacceptable and that anyone caught would face the full rigours of the law.
The statement said a task force had been formed to help maintain good sanitation at the Stadium.
Ghana News Agency investigations revealed that, many residents around the Stadium do not have toilet facilities in their homes.
A Ghana @50 public toilet constructed in the adjoining community was yet to be handed over to the Ho Municipal Assembly for use.
Consequently, some people enter the Stadium through its broken fence and defecate in the yard.
Sometimes, people could be seen in groups of three, four and five defecating around the Stadium at the same time.
Some residents told the GNA that the people could not be blamed and that the Stadium authorities should complete the fence wall to protect their territory.
“That wall has been broken for over 30 years and the place is bushy so they cannot blame the people for that”, Kofi Ametornyo, a resident told the GNA.
Mr. Adolf Ladji, Administrator of the Stadium said his outfit had written to authorities and appealed to the Ho Municipal Assembly for assistance to complete the fence wall but to no avail.
Last year, Mr Kofi Humado, Former Minister for Youth and Sports during a day’s visit to the Secretariat promised that the Stadium would be renovated pending the construction of a new stadium complex along the Ho-Aflao Road to be used by the School of Sports Medicine of the University of Health and Allied Sciences.

Coincidentally, there was another Sixth former called Blankson. Major Boakye Gyan's brother, Kyeremeh GyaN was with the pioneer sixth form group. He was unfortunately executed by Rawlings in 1986. I am from Kintampo and left Great Tess in 1983 for my sixth form education at Saint Monica's at Asante Mampong.

I think that Blankson guy was Mr. Adjei Blankson's son; the father was one of the English masters and later became assist-admi. I was there in the late 80s. In Ghana all tribes call other tribes names.
For example the northerners call the Akans 'Kagbonga', the Gas call Asantes 'Fante koyuo', the Ewes call Akans 'Abluto we'. The list can go on and on and I know you are aware of this, so no need pointing fingers at just one tribe. The fact of the matter is that we are all Ghanaians no matter what one's tribe is and we must learn to respect each other's tribe, language and culture. It must be realised that it is the variation in culture, tribe etc that makes Ghana beautiful and all these variations emanate from having different tribes in our national composition.

Now, because of NDC, Northners and Voltarians are more closely connected than ever and the question is, how many enclaves in the Volta Region belong to Northners? I can say with all certainty that there are some Northners living in Kumasi who do not know how to trace their footsteps to their native homeland because their landlord, who are the Ashantis, have received them with an open hands to the extent of pampering.

If you are comfortable with your state of being then there is nothing to be afraid of. most of the people that spew ignorant comments about the asantes have low self-esteems and are very unhappy with life. As a result, they only find comfort in trying to put down people they perceive as the cause of their misery. I have come across many people who fit into that category and i find is ironic that many of these people without realizing that i am an asanteni would spew insults about the asantes for no reason at all and would actually attempt persuade me to hate asantes. For instance, i had a professor in college who is GA, i went to his office to chat with him about how we can improve employment in Ghana. i had a great idea and i wanted his opinion, however, all this man wanted to talk about was his dislike for the asante people because they were purchasing lands in accra and spreading their culture and language to that region. so basically he hates these people because they were buying lands, moving to the the capital of Ghana and building businesses? i found it really sad but funny because many businesses in accra are owned by asantes who employs the local GA population.thus, helping the region and their population. There are many examples i can provide from experience but the common denominator that i see from all people who have hates for the asantes are they are uncomfortable with themselves and are basically in a way jealous of the asantes. In conclusion Asantes are safe because they are comfortable with their identity, however, those who spew unjust hateful statements about the Asantes are those who needs protection. hatred does nothing good for a person except self-destruction. what i also find weird is that many of these people will try to identify your tribe before they spew their ignorance .However, what they fail to realize is that intermarriage between tribes means that one individual sympathize with more than one tribe.
