My father Corporal Anthony Agbeletey 74076 was part of the first Battalion infantry in Takoradi who went to Congo in 1961.
I was 8 years old when my father left the Ranchi Barracks to the Congo.
General Bawah was then the Commanding officer of the first Battalion.
General Ankrah took over the command of all the Ghanaian troops in the Congo from General Alexander.
I remember my mother and other women putting talcum powders on our fathers when they return from the Congo.
Some women were not fortunate because their husband did not return.
As barracks boys,we were fortunate to meet Kwame Nkrumah.
Nkrumah came to the Barracks on two occasions to talk to our mothers about the situation in the Congo.
Its so sad that the peace that our Soldiers fought and died for does not exist today.

These are lkssons we need to learn from other countries as it is said " the first fool is not a fool but the second is" . We see other countries with their developments arrested tgrough strife and then some of us still want that? I went to the Congo twice and I always weep for the Congolese for the tragedy. We listen too much to " obroni"

A young man and his hot date were parked on a back road some distance from town. They were about to have sex when the girl stopped. "I really should have mentioned this earlier, but I'm actually a whore and I charge 20Cedis for sex." The man reluctantly paid her, and they did their thing. After a cigarette, the man just sat in the driver's seat looking out the window. "Why aren't we going anywhere?" asked the girl. "Well, I should have mentioned this before, but I'm actually a taxi driver, and the fare back to town is 25 Cedis...

A brilliant speech by Lumumba. Surprisingly, people of this so called intelligential age do not think like people of old. All that we cherish are money and fame. We do not think about our future generation and that is our problem. The issue of the Hutus and Tutsi's reminds me of the Kurdish people in Iran, Turkey and Iraq. The UN should be decisive in these issues once and for all.

African problems will and must be solved by africans. We must be retarded to be learning the same simple lesson of life and survival over and over again for the last 60 years or so and never coming to a complete knowledge of the truth. How many times must we learn to understand that there will never ever be any peace if there is no equitable treatment of all citizens? Equitable implies justice dictated by reason, conscience, and a natural sense of what is fair to all. It implies showing a lack of favoritism, cronyism and nepotism in the distribution of the national resources and wealth. Where there is no equal justice, equal opportunity, and equal rights for all citizens that land will never know any peace. If it's war we want the european gun manufacturers looking for trading partners will not hesitate to sell their guns to us for our money and will care less how we use the guns against each other. It's only africans who can solve african problems and until we learn this all important and life preserving lesson and stop depending on others for the solution of our self inflicted and self induced problems we will continue to wallow in poverty and under-development and continue to become the butt of western jokes.Peace which is the necessary and unavoidable precursor to progress and development will continue to elude us if we continue to do things in the same old unprofitable ways.Peace is a condition that's pursued until it's attained and when attained must be maintained and kept for as long as it's necessary. If it's imposed it's not long lasting. Life itself is a school and its lessons would be repeated as many times as it's necessary until the particular lesson has been fully learned.
The problem of the Congo is the problem of the whole continent. Those that are not already in flames or battling each other are tragedies waiting to happen. The only way out of this seemingly unending stigma is to work from the inside out as against the prevailing ineffective outside in and obey the golden rule (treat others as you'd want them to treat you). This is not too hard to do but it has remained our failure and achilles heel.So long as corruption exists and there is no transparency, no accountability, no equal opportunities and hard work is unrewarded we will know no peace. Obviously we'll have to chart a new course and Africans must decide which direction we want to go.We have been going in the wrong direction for far too long. Now is the time to change.

African Union have always failed when it comes to issues related to Congo.
But what are the people themselves doing?
Its time for all manners of persons to come together as a single strong unit and collectively work towards the rebuilding of Congo.
The vast resources endowned in Congo can rebuild the country to be a superpower but orchestrated plans by the west and some evil elements within have halted this!!!
Wake up Congo
Stand up congo
Your future is bright
And yes you can make it.
Peace is the answer
Unity remains the only option!!!!
