It is heart-warming that Mahama has risen above ethnic considerations and must be encouraged to avoid the disgraceful path Kufuor chose to the extent that under his reign not only were his relatives placed in very juicy and high-profile appointments, the Asanteman council become an extension of his government. I.m not sure the people of upper west are in any hurry to forgive him for patently overlooking them in the formation of his cabinet purely on the laughable basis that he couldn't find any suitable person from the region to join his cabinet. But his warped position doesn't surprise those who know the tribal bigot, for his hatred for the north was so blatant that he almost always found time to be at child-naming ceremonies in Ashanti but could never find time to visit the north even on weighty national matters such as the killing of the Ya-Naa or the outbreak of the Bawku crisis all of which were sadly orchestrated by his government.

Akadu you are wrong. NPP had Dr. Safo-Mensah, Suzzie Mensah as Regional Minister and Deputy for the Easteern Region while Dr.Aggrey-Mensah was Minister of Communication. They are bonafide Kwahu. Indeed, Nana Akuamoah-Boateng, Nana Kwahumanhene was from 2001 to 2008, Chairman of COCOBOD. Under NDC, Ama Bennyiwah-Doe, a citizen of Gomoa had been Regional Minister in the Central Region from 2009 to date. Dan Botwe- an Akwamu citizen and Hon. Osei-Ameyaw also of Frankadua (Akwamu) were all Ministers and Deputies under NPP. Hon Kwamena Bartels- an Agona citizen held several positions in the NPP administration and Kwesi Ahwoi is also an Agona citizen. The late Hon C. O. Nyanor, a Denkyira man was a Minister under NPP and if I am to strech it further, under the Limann administration the lady MP for Denkyira was also an appointee. Want more? The Gonja angle being touted by Haruna, is something being talked about by the intelligensia of Gonja in ACCRA.

This is a very unfortunate piece, rather unwise and unfair to the president. If you think you are doing any service to the Gonja people, you are wrong and rather the opposite! By the way the president was a Gonja and still is, and was a member of government over quite some time so it is wrong to say that "no Gonja has been even a deputy minister .."
Of course if any individuals from any ethnic group have the right credentials and the president or his appointments team present them to him, I am sure they will be considered. But I am personally averse to this silly notion that just because my "brother is on the mango tree I must enjoy the choicest fruits". The fact that Kufour's government was so blatantly 'ethnoclastic' favouring Asantes in its appointments does not make it right, nor does it mean that Mahama should do the same. I rather admire a president who focuses on choosing a winning team than appointments just to satisfy people.
I supported the brilliant article written by the Gonja Association condemning the ethnic stereotypes levelled against them by some irresponsible and stupid individuals. But I wholly condemn this article of yours as inappropriate, inward-looking and unhelpful. It puts the president in an embarrassing position and betrays your own immaturity and lack of understanding of how government and politics should work. If we follow your brand of 'power distribution', Ghana would be worse of.
Think again and stop inciting people to raise silly grievances. Government simply does not work like that and in places where such nepotism has occurred throughout our country, things have not worked well and that is part of our problem.

what Kuffour and Mills did were very good examples of how not to govern a country. Nepotism has no place in democracy. Mahama, like Rawlings, must rise above nepotism, the ingredient for corruption, and desist from adapting the very bad practices of kuffour and Mills. Competent and trusted people should assist Mahama and not envious tribesmen and siblings. Mahama is wise to keep away from tribal politics.

Rawlings is no different from any corrupt and nepotistic leader Ghana has ever had. You wanna know what the problem in Ghana is ? Here you go. For reasons that I am not ready to outline here, Ghanaians have seen their government rather than private industry, as the engine of growth. This mode of thought doesn't allow people to create or seek opportunities outside of what government has to offer. So agitations to see one's kinsman appointed as a cabinet minister, begs the question; What is in it for me ? You guess is as accurate as mine- uncontested government contracts etc.
If we had strong institutions and private sector, all this nonsense will be shelved. Have African American lives been any better since Obama became president of the United Sates ? Hell no. My advice to anyone seeking success through an association with government is that, you better save for rainy day, if you make any money because you will be gone when the next guy comes around.
