a companion of the black star!
This is a patently idiotic analysis of the "all die be die" slogan adopted by the NPP. A fact that the writer ignores is that Nana Akufo-Addo said:
"They have made up their minds that they are going to intimidate us in 2012." Akufo-Addo was caught on the microphone, speaking in Twi, an Akan language, 'I sometimes explain this as the claim that we Akans are cowards. They argue that if one is able wound one or two of us, then all the rest of us remaining take to our heels! Is that so? Well, We shall see! Atiwa for example, was a little illustration of this. During the by-elections at Atiwa we did "something small" that showed a little bit of this. And so we have to understand that this party was formed by brave men. Our elders who formed this party which is now the biggest political party in Ghana, were not people who were hiding under beds! The courage that is needed now to face the 2012 elections is 'All die be die! All die be die!' Nobody is a man more than his fellow! Nobody more manly than the other. No matter how tall you are, no matter how small you are in size, by God's plan, all of us are endowed with exactly the same thing. You cannot tell us that you have three inside yours. All of us have how many? Two! Ha! ha! ha! So we are going to pick up courage. Ghanaians need us to come back to power. Whatever courage we need to stand firmly and to ensure that we come back to power in 2012, we are going to have to do it!" (Transcription by the Office of the Odikro, from audio, source: @joyonlinenews: Listen to key voices on Nana Akufo-Addo's 'all die be die' dlvr.it/Gb2v7)
The writer childishly claims the "all die be die" "was meant to empower
his followers. Yes we may all call into question Akufo-Addo’s “All die be die” statement, but only partisan and “tribalistic” minds see it as a synonym of violence. However defined, Akufo-Addo said that to empower his NPP followers", but failed to explain why it begins with "WE AKANS"!

Your Quotation above makes no sense when you concluded that JJ has killed. Is there any evidence that JJ Has Killed? You see your bias here Akurang?
Akuffo Addo's hasty call for 'all die be die' alone claimed lives in Otuom in the central region, Kumasi where several NDC supporters where butchered with cutlasses and in other parts of the country.
If JJ Rawlings did not Kill directly and killed through his being the Leader of AFRC, at least that is understood as in his capacity as a Soldier but not a Politician Like Akuffo who's hasty pronouncement saw many Ghanaians being butchered to death.
Try and be objective and non bias.

Some of the articles posted by the above mentioned werent good but you Mr. Akadu is worse than them. For those of us that have known you here for sometime do know that you are a real supremacist.
You are not helping the NPP cause by posting this kind of articles, it might win you a few praises and acolades from some misguided here but it doesnt do NPP, Ghana, Akans, and Ewes any good.
If you want to know why many believe that the NPP is Akan centered as it stands now just refer to the first comment to your article.

A Gersis reporting
Fellow Ghanaians
It is now so sad that in her sermon to her tribalist hordes this misogynist, deficient in humanity will produce such an article sprinkled with clannish sentiments to arouse hatefull feelings towards my people-the Ghanaian Jews. Akadu, as if double talk seems to be your second language, it certainly and equally reflects a calculating mind that is easily as an addled one.
Your tone now brisk, now elegiac also risis from the deep hatred you harbor for the Ghanaian Jew. May be Akadu is beefing up her timid heart and her pompous style and blustering her egocentric self to make every fibre of her delusions of grandeur puff and puff untill she realises her lost supremacy- a taste for nostalgia.
What is it that makes you hate the Ghanaian Jew? What is it that really has such an impact on you to hate us? Akadu, there's somthing more powerful than just being a Ghanaian Jew. Even in the slightest of my thought, the briefest epigram, there is a rosonance, the revibration of my emotion of being an EWE. What i am talking about are epiphanies-the result one can hardly measure.
Akadu, do you hate us because of our intellect? Do you hate us because of our bravery? God! What is it that has such an impact on you to hate us?
OH God! It is the Jewish girls! It is my girls that are making her mad!
My girls are true and touching. Their beauty is epitomized by the pneumatic Cloepatra. That single act of God, the beauty-the crystal whose unexpected beauty explodes in an epiphany and then melts away barely before you, Akadu could take a second look. This act by God to create the Ewe girl is like when a crystal falls from God's hand to meet the science of his Creation.
Akadu, the Ghanaian Jew is created in the Providence of God. Our beauty is like a hardy seed planted by God on the banks of my BLUE BIG RIVER, the Volta.
If you chose to hate us, you will die of heart attack hating us.
fellow Ghanaian Jews, stay strong.

Akaadu, I think you worry for nothing. Empty barrels always makes the most noise. Those that have branded NPP as an Akan party only do so because they know very little. They are always afraid of their own shadows. Many may be educated, but they cannot stand the test of time in Ghana. They have hated the Akan people and particularly Ashantis for a long time. I guess they feel liberated, and think back few years ago and many thought flash through their minds and think that Akans and particularly Ashantis were the cause. Forgetting that Ashantis/Akans did them a great favor. Sometime I think that all those making tribalisic statements are those who could not hold their own. With all the education they say they have they still are not sure of themselves. This is manifest especially when one goes abroad, where most Ghanaians, if alone among other foreigners pretend to be Akan. When they want friends, they want Akan friends, yet on the political field they de efface Akans, why? They are always afraid of their own tribes men, to the extent that they will not even put decent houses in their hometowns, fearing they will go under! They have used force, and forgery, to gain power so they can do what they knows best, steal. In the olden days there was a saying that when you give a gift of hen or cockerel to an...... He/she will say no, only to turn round and steal it. If others hate the Akans they only expose themselves as people unsure of their very existence, and know very well that on a level playing field they can never be competitive. Let the NPP not think too much of what they say and continue with this court case to it's logical end. Perhaps a strong and lasting reforms would come out of it that would make the field much more fair. Win or lose, history when written by logical brains will cast the name Nana Akuffo-Addo and NPP in stone. I rest my case.

Bomfaboy, face the facts. Don't go about thinking that people hate and envy Ashantis. Everybody these days is struggling to make it, whether Ashanti, Akyem, Ewe, Ga or whatever. Whoever succeeds does so through his/her efforts, not because the person belongs to a particular tribe.
NPP is in theory NOT a tribal party. Tribal parties are not allowed by the constitution. But the NPP has not quite succeeded in making itself truly national in practice. The party is still too much dominated by Akans. It's not good for NPP, it's not good for Ghana. The day Ewes, Northerners etc see that NPP is genuinely national, they will join the party. These people don't think they have any chance in the party now. That is why they call it Akan party. They have the evidence from the party's presidential primaries since its inception.
NDC is NOT a better party than NPP but it is not dominated by any one tribe. NDC has Akans who are very influential in the party. ALL the influential people in NPP are Akans. Jake is the party chairman but he is just a figurehead who doesn't even have the support of most Gas.
People will start believing in NPP as a national party the day it chooses a presidential candidate who is neither Ashanti no Akyem! It doesn't mean people hate Ashant's or Akyems as individuals! Remember Kufuor was there for 8 years. There was nothing wrong with that. Many non-Akans voted for him especially for his first term when people were fed up with NDC.
The same thing can happen again. But NPP has to work harder to broaden its base. Akufo-Addo was also too controversial a figure. That is a personality problem, not a tribal one. Another Akan candidate could have done better.
NPP, open up to Ewes. Let them feel welcome. Don't invite them to your meetings and start speaking Twi to them. They won't come again tomorrow.

I will advise you to contact former President John Agyekum Kuffour to tell you much about the people of Volta Region. In 2006 when the people of Volta Region wanted to separate from Ghana, JAK went to discuss it with the Queen of England and if you care to know the Queen's advise to JAK; "If you allow this people to separate from Ghana, Ghana will callapsed because they are brain of Ghana, therefore when you return to Ghana, divide Volta Region into two so the Ewe speaking people will not meet the population target of the UN to grant them independence." That is why in 2007, JAK decided to divide Volta Region in Volta Region which comprises of the Ewe Speaking People and the Oti Region which comprises of Both Akans and Guans. But the people of Volta Region are so united that they disagree with the JAK decision.
You don't know the history of Ghana. If you want to know, you can contact me through sitsoyao@yahoo.com. I will put some sense into your block headed brain.

Tribalism is a real problem in Ghana that has the capability to disstabilised this nation. Any Ghanaian who disagrees with this statement is either in self-denial or in self-delution.
I suggest, Learned Akadu Ntiriwa Mensema, that in your second chapter you should help the political leadership in the country by suggesting possible solutions to the problem.
In my viw, I think, we, as a nation, must devolve power from the central government level to local government level.
By devolution, I am referring to the full election of DCEs and all local assembly men and women.
By devolution, I am also referring to the giving of power to local legislators to raise local revenue to meet local needs that have been prioritised by local people themselves.
By devolution, I am referring to the empowerment of local people to develop local culture to enhance the uniqueness of local communities within a multi-cultural Ghanaian society.
We can do all these things within a non-federal unitary system of overnance within which the powers of central government end at the regional level; and beneath which the role of central government becomes guiding and counselling of local communities and their local governments only.
In my view transferring power to local communities in Ghana will encourage self-development and discourage "envy", which is the main cause of tribalism in Ghana.

The NPP never "ferried urbanism, modernity, and other developments of repute to the Volta Region, including the Keta Sea Wall, major highways, and provision of water and toilet facilities..." as asserted by you.
Correction here: (1) NPP did not start the Keta Sea Defence Project. This project was begun by the NDC and carried on by the NPP. For reasons best known to itself, the NPP regime truncated the project by deviating from the project master-plan.
(2) I am yet to see the sort of "urbanism, modernity, and other developments of repute to the Volta Region" you speak of. The Accra-Aflao road project stopped at Tefle and never crossed the Volta River to Sogakope let alone to Aflao during the NPP regime.
I'm trying to grasp what you mean by "modernity". Is it wearing coat and trousers or mini-skirt? Please educate me further on your notion of "modernity".
Provision of water? Just tell me where in the Volta Region was water provided by the NPP and also mention where toilets were provided.
In your usual attempt or effort to champion the cause of your stock, please be advised to refrain from peddling lies as the truth and the truth as lies.

Auntie Akadu we speak Akan, you do not speak Ewhe so from the logic above who hates the other.
I wrote on the web the other time that when our brothers and sisters Akans tribal supremacist lay claim to being hated by Ewhes their words did not even leave their mouth before they fall flat like a sack without content.
I wish to repeat here again that Prof. Kofi Awoonor (the owner of cloth) was born and brought up in an Akan region. He and Kojo Tsikata speak Akan even better than most Akans. So Kofi Awoonor hates Akans, but speak their language better than most of them. Did my clan-man Nyidehu want to spite Akan tribal supremacist the reason why he learn their language. Did anything prevent the Akan tribal supremacist from learning Ewhe in order to spite Nyidehu.
On that score who fail to do his propaganda act better the propagandist Nyidehu who carries his propaganda in Akan with ease or the peopagandist Akadu who can not mention a single word in Ewhe.
The issue with tribalism is with the New Patriotic Party which leadership comes out to denigrate people from other tribes. To the executives of the NPP Akans are the first citizens of this country and thy must come first before any other tribe.
Akans in the New Patriotic Party say it openly that no person from any other tribe, other than an Akan can be its presidential candidate.
No other party in Ghana has made claim to Akans other than the NPP.
NPP must learn from people in the left side of the political divide who relate to people from other parties, rather than theirs even better to how they relate to their own siblings and call them comrade because the word comrade sounds with pride.
We wrote the other time that if there are people in this country who pay others wickedness for the kindness they have done to them, then that type of people are found in the NPP.
If it is not tribal why should the NPP make the issue of Mr. Alfred Agbesi Woyome an election propaganda when there are equally members of the NPP in court facing the similar charge. Why are members of NPP not telling Asamoah Boateng and his wife for instance not to return what they stole from the state to it, but are ready at any opportunity to tell Woyome to return to the state what he stole from it.
Is it not the same ignorance and illusion by Akan extreme tribalist that they are more Ghanaian more than the rest of us.
We ask the other time what has those Akan tribal extremist brought to the table call Ghana apart from enriching themselves at the expense of all of us, and it some instances stealing from us as they steal from Ewhes, Krobos and our Northern brothers and sister who work on their farms, whiles they sent their time with a calabash full of palm wine.

Does it need to take even 8 years to do this? From AFRC, PNDC and NDC regimes. Was the leader not the same man?
Now don't you realize that The NPP did well, if even, the regime "..truncated the project by deviating from the project master plan"?

Akadu, thank you for a very thoughtful piece. I also admire your patience throughout this process. The trouble is, the other side has not done anything to dispel these "myths" or impressions about the NPP and if anything, I have been personally appalled at the tribal vitriol being spewed out on all sides. As Ghanaians, I believe we all have a duty to work hard to remove tribalism from our politics and national dialogue. By all means we must hold dear to our roots and I respect your 'Denkyire Natioanlism'.
The problem arises when such nationalism is wrongly expressed or is used as a tool to propagate a superiority complex as I am sure we have all seen with some of the posting we have all read on Ghanaweb. I am sure you will say that we are mature enough to rise above pall that. True, but can you imagine the impact of constant, repeated name-calling and the insults which go way beyond the bounds of banter.
I for one do not belong to any of the political parties and although a northerner from Bongo-Dua in the Upper East region, I grew up in a military barrack in Accra which was a melting pot of all tribes, hence my FLUENCY in FIVE Ghana languages including Ga, Twi and Eve which I can also write. I also speak my mother tongue and Hausa fluently. I schooled in Accra, Navrongo and the Ashanti region (Oboasi) and have travelled to all parts of Ghana. I have very close friends from all parts of Ghana for which I am very proud. My family tradition is built on valuing and cherishing your tribe, who you are, speaking your own language yet treating all others equally and with the Utmost respect. I have family members who belong to all major parties in Ghana, some of them are MPs (and ministers). I do respect them all and can argue politics with each one of them but have never taken advantage of their political positions. The long and short of it is that I find it very hard to accept that in the 21st Century, we will continue to hear some of the base and crass utterances and venom people post on these airwaves.
I agree with you some writers betray their personal preferences and sometimes some of them bother on tribal leanings. I have always sought to extract the key messages in most postings and have been critical where that was necessary. I would hope that instead of invoking negative reactions that would continue to propagate these tribal arguments in respect of our politics, people like yourself and the rest of us who have had the fortune of a good education and are now playing responsible roles wherever we are based, will forge a common positive bond to argue together to eliminate the tribal tones in our politics and work more for the unity of our country.
I notice you ended on a note suggesting that you are an Nkrumaist. I happen to value the work of Nkrumah myself and believe he is the singular Ghanaian and African politician who has made the most impact. I find it interesting the president and government seem to have a number of educational and other developmental projects in the pipeline which if properly executed, could move Ghana a long way forward along similar lines but let's watch the space.

Yours is the most thoughtful of all the commentaries. I think that a great number of Ghanaians have your background, but they are still tribalistic. I speak to all issues irrespective of "tribe," party, region, etc. I have come under attack from some constituencies that think that I unfairly questioned the Mills regime and JJ Rawlings. The same people forget that I have also taken to task the NPP, Kufour, Akufo-Addo, etc. I have written about the environment, gender equality, neocolonialism, pollution, education, corrupt elites, infrastructure, name them. I find it hard that some of us worship the very people who impoverish us because of "tribe." For my part, I am a die-hard Nkrumahist, and I may believe that you don't belong to any political party, but certainly your comments and writings here point to the direction where you lean: P/NDC. And I would leave it that. Thanks for your thoughtful comments!
