The AFRC/PNDC carted away scores of old newsreel from the GBC and the National Archives (Accra). It is believed that the fire that gutted the GBC was the work of state-sponsored arsonists who wanted to destroy the evidence on atrocities of the AFRC/PNDC eras and by so doing detroyed hundreds of newsreels and films that antedated that period.
Then again, our so-called Ghanaian/Nigerian films are anaemic in their dearth of inventiveness. They are all immitations of Hollywoodized genres: guns, violence, sex, decay, and Africanization of poverty.
I think we are just lost in the sea of necololonialsm and are being gobbled up by the sharks of of the so-called globalization that is sadly unidirectional: nothing flows from Africa to influence the West, but everything foreign freely flows to Africa, including garbage, used underwear, used tooth-brush and all!
Our leaders are lost, and we the followers don't even know who are our leaders and where they are taking us!

It is our generation that embarked on the path of getting something for nothing that led to a series of coups starting with the infamous coup in 1966. The coup leaders then and all the trappings that have followed even unto today is that anything with its origins in black Africa is not good. We hold these to be true because our so-called educated and political elite class would like Ghana to practice a system of governance and or economics from civilized western nation in light of our inabilities to establish pre-requisite independent and effective institutions with oversight mandates to ensure sustainability and successes.
. It is our generation that has brought upon our youth "getting rich at all cost and die trying" culture and yet we hypocritically bemoan what we reap. How many parents in this land of ours do question when our relatives in the Diaspora send things home we ought to question their sources? How many of the older Ghanaians are content with the stealing and mismanagement of our national resources as long as we get our share because of party affiliation instead of national policies that are fair and equitable to all Ghanaians? How many of our own acquired assets cannot be traced to prosperous China and other communist and or socialist nations that continue to advance practicing the very same system of governance we were experiencing under Nkrumah's CPP with disdain and resentment?
Would a moral generation that abhorred servitude be scrambling for all things China and or from Middle Eastern countries? Our generation would rather be holding out our tin cups begging for money and aid from civilized western nations, China and or any nation including India that would drop money in our tin cups but unwilling to prosper from our own blood, sweat and tears. but do enjoy what comes to us from China and other nation where their citizens toil to make their nations better and developed. Go figure that out.
