  Thanks for your suggestions but the fact of the matter is the CHARACTER of the Ghanaian businessman or Ghanaian entrepreneur is very questionable.All your suggestions make sense to me.Some of them have been tried before but you know what happened? Start-ups diverted loans to buy cars,build houses and some even married three women.Most Ghanaian businessmen love self-aggrandizement and love acquiring property at the least opportunity instead of using the resources to build their business.Some of them will also not apply what they have been taught,even if they are given some training on ENTREPRENEURSHIP.In a response to a recent article,one of our readers Kojo Essuman asked the question "How can we change the MINDSET of Black Africans ?".He calls it a million dollar question.I believe by enforcing all your suggestions we will see a different picture in the near future.

  What you said makes much sense. It is real and it is true. From my experiences both home and abroad, I think a lot of that problem can be dealt with through the Financial Institutions(FIs) and educating the Individuals as well. You see, elsewhere, providers of funding to Entrepreneurs dont just give them money and leave them to do their own thing and come back 2 years down the line to pay back their Loans. No! they see money to Entrepreneuers as investment and so will "WORK ALONGSIDE" with the entrepreneur to ensure that the business work - in that kind of partnership. It is pretty hard for one to simply start using money for Marrying a new wife or merely cars. On the part of the entrepreneurs, knowledge is quite essential - if you know it. For example, I also practiced some tax in Ghana and it actually makes sense to build your business, and still acquire assets such as buildings and vehicles under the company name because it actually has positive taxation advantages. But these are vital pieces of information that most entrepreneurs dont know..... What can I say. Theres hope. We'll get there!
