I like this article a lot. In order for the military to be disciplined, a number of factors comes into play here. For instance if you have president who promote people based on ethnicity and religion, then you will not have to expect the military personnel to be professionals because they will have to also protect their interest and as such, can sometimes behave unprofessionally. The executive therefore has to behave professionally and the military will also follow.
Again, channeling more resources to educate our military personnel will be good. However, don't forget that sanogo received training in the US and people questioned the essence of that training after he led the Mali coup in 2012. He took advantage of he chaos in the country which was caused by the executive. The executive therefore has 80% role to play in ensuring that the military behave as expected of them.
