I dare to digress a little that the 'culture' in the schools, especially in low-income, which tends to be predominantly African American, and other immigrants such as those from Africa is simply toxic and a heavy handedness should be applied to bring back discipline. I can only imagine the bully attempts at your accents when teaching those kids. I tell folks, I am proud of my Ghanaian accent, no matter where I go. I just love it, if someone doesn't like it that is their cup of kooko, not mine. But parents in the diaspora, please spend quality time with your kids and talk to them, empathize and roll with the times. Sad case for Javits Frimpong and his parents. May he rest in peace and may the perpetrators be caught and dealt harshly(though I doubt, since they are so-called minors). Those boys are lucky they are in the USA, try that in China or Saudi Arabia. Thank you for the article, well written!
