Mr. President,
I write as a concerned Ghanaian football supporter regarding the current state of our national game under your leadership. Since you assumed office, the Black Stars have experienced a sustained downward trend in performance, results, and global standing.
The numbers speak for themselves:
1. Tournament failures: Ghana exited the 2021 AFCON at group stage with 1 point, failed to qualify for 2022 World Cup knockout rounds after losing to Uruguay, and again crashed out of 2023 AFCON at group stage with 2 points. We missed qualification for 2025 AFCON entirely.
2. FIFA Ranking decline: From 52nd globally in 2019 when you took office, we dropped to 68th as of September 2026. In Africa, we’ve fallen from top 5 to outside the top 10.
3. Win rate collapse: In 35 competitive matches since 2019, the Black Stars have recorded only 11 wins — a 31% win rate compared to 58% in the decade prior.
4. Domestic league crisis: The Ghana Premier League now averages under 1,000 fans per match according to GFA attendance reports. Club licensing issues persist, and no Ghanaian club has reached CAF Champions League group stages since 2018.
5. Player call-up concerns: Multiple players including Thomas Partey and Mohammed Kudus have publicly cited fatigue and injury risks from national duty affecting club form. Several Europe-based players have declined call-ups citing “lack of proper planning” in recent windows.
While I acknowledge the FA Constitution outlines processes for leadership tenure, constitutions exist to serve the game, not shield failure. When results consistently fail and confidence erodes across stakeholders, accountability demands more than procedural defense. The interest of Ghana football must come first.
For the sake of restoring credibility, rebuilding the Black Stars, and reviving our domestic league, I respectfully urge you to resign and allow fresh leadership to chart a new course.
The article is 100 percent on point - no shades!
