The central point is sound: the limiting factor in the AI era is not computational power but the character of those who deploy it. Algorithms can process information at extraordinary speed and confidence; they cannot carry moral responsibility or weigh human cost. When leaders treat AI recommendations as authoritative rather than advisory, especially in security or crisis decisions, the risk of accelerating conflict or injustice rises sharply.
Sobriety—calm judgement, intellectual humility, and resistance to impulsive reaction—becomes more valuable, not less, as systems generate outputs in milliseconds. The same principle applies to disinformation: generative tools make fabricated material more convincing, so the discipline to verify before acting grows correspondingly important.
Technological capability without ethical restraint has never ended well. The AI era simply raises the stakes. Countries that combine advanced systems with accountable, conscience-driven leadership will be better placed than those that prioritise speed or dominance alone.
