I have been saying this same thing for years - putting hot foodstuff like banku into rubber is introducing cancer causing chemicals into the food which enters our body when we consume it. Ghana is going to see a lot of cases of cancer and unexplained premature deaths if the Government does ban this practice forthwith. In the UK, you are advised not to put plastic containers into microwaves for the same reason and rubber is much more softer and therefore easier to breakdown the cancerous chemicals in the rubber when it touches hot food. Take heed Ghanaians before its too late. In addition, food seller should be bbanned from storing their stock of hot kenkey, waakye, KOKO in large plastic bags because the cancerous chemicals are also leeching into the food which is then sold to the public.
