Insightful paper and well researched. This is the kind of discourse that must be encouraged within our space. It highlights the growing concern about Ghanaian traders and the general public. Almost every now and then, there’s a revenue assurance model that surfaces to syphon money from the Ghana economy or some parallel system introduced with proper policy alignment.

It is encouraging to see the Ministry of Trade taking proactive steps to address longstanding gaps within the maritime and trade ecosystem. The industry needs more of this kind of leadership; one that is responsive, informed, and willing to intervene where necessary.
For too long, the space has been left vulnerable to encroachment by actors promoting so-called "innovations" that offer little or no tangible value to the industry, yet somehow gain prominence and impose additional costs on legitimate businesses.
This is a commendable piece by the authors. More industry-focused commentary of this nature is needed to spotlight genuine concerns, stimulate informed debate, and ensure that policy and reform efforts remain grounded in the realities of trade facilitation, competitiveness, and value creation.
