All observers know where the writer of this piece is coming from. Since independence, these countries have been practicing democracy according to Western definition of it. What are the positive dividends of it? The French and the West have been in these countries for more than a decade to 'stabilize' the place. What are the positive dividends of it?
We have read about the take over of their natural resources and the benefits they are deriving from it. Is that propaganda of Ibrahim Traore? Africans are now wide awake and agents of Neo-colonialism cannot put us to sleep again.

This a hit piece. So far Traore has done very well, and should be encouraged. I'm all for democracy, but democracy by itself has not brought tangible results to West Africa. What matters is the leader(s) and the quality of leaders. So far, most of our leaders, especially the current crop in our so called democracies have failed us.

Massa, Is Ofori Atta availing himself for his role as our Finance Minister under our airy-fairy democratic dispensation of venal Akufo Addo? I am not a fan of Traore because ,I, think Islam has actually done more damage to his country than the colonialists he keep harping on about. Are the terrorists followers of Islam or some Capitalist Western Christian Disposition? No! They are followers of Islam. That is where Idisagree with Traore. That said, if it takes a dictator with a sound convuction of purpose to put his country on a sound footing, then Iam all for that, No country anywhere in the world started with democracy, ever!
I did ask a question on Google ,and I would like you to give your opinion on it.
If you do not respond, consider yourself as one of those who use democratic as a facaade to rob us blind.Thank you! Now, read...
Google, which countries in the world had authoritarian rule ,yet built sustainable infrastructure such as South Korea before turning. to democratic rule?
Several countries, similar to South Korea, experienced authoritarian "developmental dictatorships" that built significant infrastructure, created industrial bases, and stabilized economies before transitioning to democracy. Key examples include Taiwan, Indonesia, Chile, and Spain. These regimes often prioritized economic growth and long-term planning over political freedoms before eventually democratizing. .
Taiwan (Republic of China): Under Chiang Kai-shek and the Kuomintang (KMT) party, Taiwan went through a long period of martial law (1949–1987) known as the "White Terror," while building export-oriented industries and infrastructure, later transitioning to a vibrant democracy.
Indonesia: During the "New Order" era under Suharto (1966–1998), the government focused heavily on economic development, infrastructure projects, and stability, paving the way for eventual democratic transition.
Chile: Under Augusto Pinochet (1973–1990), Chile implemented massive free-market reforms and infrastructure modernization after a military coup, transitioning back to democracy in 1990.
Spain: The regime of Francisco Franco (1939–1975) oversaw significant economic development (the "Spanish Miracle") in its later years, leading to democratic transition after his death.

Singapore: While it has not fully transitioned to a competitive multiparty democracy like the others, Singapore under Lee Kuan Yew is often cited alongside South Korea for building world-class infrastructure and high-capacity institutions under a long-ruling party (PAP) that maintained authoritarian capitalism.
These countries often used authoritarian control to enforce strict economic policies (such as the Saemaeul Undong or New Community Movement in Korea) and to restrict labor unrest, ensuring rapid, sustained infrastructure development.

Stop fooling around. Go look at the UN Development Index Burkina Faso is amongs the last 10 at the bottom. For the sake of argument lets say those beggars are from Mali, Niger or Chad. Why didnt they end up with their closest Sahelian French speaking neighour Burkina Faso. They rather passby Burkina Faso and came all the way to Ghana. They voted with their feet. They dont want anything to do with a Basket case of a country. They will rather be in a strange English speaking but well to do country called Ghana than a basket case called Burkina Faso.
Even just this month the UN Agency for Refugees moved their Office to Wa to cater for Burkina Faso Refugees. If Traore had anything good going for his citizens why should they be seeking permanent refugee status in Ghana.
