Much as I agree with the writer l am a bit concerned as I have observed local players within the sector in Ghana have no corporate governance structures, elite corruption with no returns to shareholders whereas the main beneficiaries are milking the company through dubious and inflated contracts encourage systems driven by cronyism with square pegs in round holes, treating workers as second fiddle with poor safety standards and violating their fundamental rights of workers as enshrined in the labour act. We have gone this route before in the 70s but they collapsed because of the earlier points that I raised. I wish them well and we will be watching how things unfold in the coming years.
