I have been reading discussions of electricity pricing in Ghana, and I am surprised that:
1. very little is said about moving towards renewables like solar & wind, Ghana has a lot of potential for both,
2. continuing from above, we should start evaluating the feasibility of mini grids based on deployment of solar and wind - mini grids have been shown to reduce transmission costs.
2. virtually not discussion of using a pricing structure that encourages efficiency - such pricing models abound and are being used around the world.
Bottom line, it is time to start investigating these options.
