The brains that gave birth to the obliteration of Kotoka's name from the universe have also erected an imposing statue of J.J. Rawlings. Hmmmm, an ecenomic equivalence of the national cathedral. 3da h) a 3b3 nyin dabi.

You have a good case. Cost implications for the name change should be considered, especially at this point where our health care infrastructures are crumbling.

Nana Edusei, I agree with you totally on your assertion: cost implication for the name change. On how Ghana is going to bear the cost ? The answer is simple: confiscate and repatriate all the stolen billions stashed in off-shore accounts and banks around the globe of ,Ken Ofori Atta; Addo Danquah Akuffo-Addo; John Agyekum Kuffour; Mahamadu Bawumia and co.
And Ghana will be fine.
I expect the John Dramani Mahama's Govt. to go full throttle; enlist the assistance of the FBI and the Marshall Services of the United States in tracking down and to repossess all the stolen, hidden billions of these economic and financial leeches who are quietly and silently enjoying their loot
Lastly but certainly not the least: I suggest a decree be inscribed somewhere in the Constitution that will make it an offence punishable by "public execution" of any public servant who dips his or her dirty hands into the Nation's coffers
Let us put democracy aside and "do our own thing" because the so- called democracy is ruining Black Africa. This is my story and am sticking to it

The moral imperative outweighs everything, Mr Fianu!
And it is a bloody shame that you choose to make a non-ethical premise for your position.
But very well, if you want to have an economics-based discourse on the name-change issue, have you in all fairness calculated the emotional suffering the survivors of Major-General Charles Barwah have gone through and what that translates into financial compensation? Imagine, Mr Fianu, that you were a tender, young boy in the early hours of February 24th, 1966. Gunshots woke you up. That was your father's security guards, approximately 7 in number, being executed one by one by Kotoka and his entourage. Kotoka then proceeds to enter your family home and after a very brief argument with your father, he shoots him point-blank, in cold blood, in the terrified presence of your mother and siblings! How much financial cost has that trauma been to you as the little boy for half a century?
General Barwah committed no crime. He was a soldier's soldier! Do bother to check his accomplishments at Sandhurst Military Academy in England. But his greatest professional and most noble act was refusing to go against his sworn oath to defend the constitution of Ghana by joining Kotoka's illegal and treasonous enterprise on February 24th, 1966!
Other crimes of murder took place that shameful day. But for brevity's sake, we will ignore that.
Now lets get to the simple question of what we should honour Kotoka for?
Is it the heinous murder of General Charles Barwah?
Is it the treasonous act of being a regime-change mercenary for a foreign power to the tune of millions of dollars?
Is it the violation of his military oath to defend the constitution of the republic?
On that last question, Mr Fianu, I will proffer the response that a democracy has no business honouring a coup-maker!

The financial implication is the biggest bullcrap from a PhD sophist and embellisher.Dr, stick that piffle where it belongs! Gold Coast to Ghana, cost implications, absolute tosh! It was done!
In my considered opinion , the name should have been "Kwame Nkrumah International Airport".
There are several countries in South America who list Simon Bolivar, as their "Sole Founder" In fact, Bolivia is even named afer him. They are: Panama, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Venezuela and Colombia. Yes, he is the "Sole Founder" of all these countries.
Lastly, I do not buy the crap from "Ga' people that the airport is on their land. It was built with money from Cocoa, Coffee, Diamond, Bauxite, Manganese, Timber , Rubɓer etc . Which of these vital natural resouces comes ftom Greater Accra Region? None!
