Kotoka and his cohorts are murderers and killers of national dreams. Karma served him right in 1967. Sam Arthur and Yeboah should rather be national heroes for taking down that murderer. They thought they killed Charles Bawa and that was it? never. Sixty years is enough, another generation must not grow to see the name of that man on a national edifice as important as the Prime Airport of our beloved Country.

Had Kotoka been alive, he would have faced the firing squad alongside Afrifa.
Across the globe, statues and monuments honoring traitors are being dismantled; Kotoka’s legacy should suffer the same fate.

If we have to stay on course for the reset agenda in Ghana, many little things, according to this article must be done in unison. Most things must attract prioritization. This includes the overdue renaming of the Accra airport. In fact as soon as the legislation is passed, the minister should mount a ladder and chisel that name off as a symbolic gesture for the damage Kotoka has caused Ghana and Africa. Just visit the industrial area in Accra and look at the silo that was abandoned after 1966, the silos at Tema, the abandoned glass manufacturing factory at Aboso, just to name a few. The name at the airport is a strangulation on the psyche and development of Ghana.
If it is named after Kwame Nkrumah, visitors will link it to the memorial park and recognize the significance of the role Osagyefo played.

Your argument for maintaining that shameful honour of a coup-maker is patently flawed. That airport must be renamed, and the time for that is now. What a shame for a country that always stands against coups to have the country's main airport named in honour of a leading member of the group that staged Ghana's first coup. You may view the plan to rename the airport as a misplacement priority, and you clearly do so for selfish reasons, but the renaming of the airport is the right thing for the nation. You've not stated a single convincing reason why the airport should remain named in honour of Kotoka. You've given no single major contribution that Kotoka made to Ghana that warrants the nation's main airport being named after him. You seem to be forgetting that the reason why the airport was named after him was to honour his death at the hands of counter-coup plotters, and that surely isn't a sound reason for an airport being named in honour of any person. Ghana made a mistake in naming that airport after Kotoka, and the number of years gone by should be no excuse for Ghana to refrain from righting that past wrong.

Very good arguments in favor of misplaced priorities. However the author’s warped presentation overlooks the traitorous actions of Kotoka. Declassified information provide all we need to know about the coup which happens to be an unlawful act in the first place. I will go a step further. Why not Kwame Nkrumah International Airport instead of just Accra International Airport. As has been pointed out elsewhere if Kotoka were alive he would have faced the firing squad with his co- conspirator Afrifa courtesy of the other murderous “Voltarian”
, the region whose important members the writer is appealing for their influence to block the name change. That gave the game away.
