Do you understand how gravity works? No? Well heavier objects tend to have a gravitational pull over smaller objects. They bend the fabric of space and as a result smaller objects in their orbit are pulled in their direction. China is that giant space object with a big-ass gravitational pull. Ghana isn't the only country affected. The entire world is in China's orbit as we speak. Know this and know peace!

The challenge with most African countries is that we have been brainwashed to believe that one cannot learn maths or science subjects using their vernacular languages. It is strongly believed (even by our own educated professors) that the imposed language does a better job. In most African countries it is taboo to discuss this issue since especially most of our educators received/inherited a colonial education.
If you take a look at all progressive countries, you will notice that everything is taught in their vernacular languages.
For example:
UK - English
US - English
Germany - German
France - French
Japan - Japanese
China - Mandarin
South Korea - Korean
Russia - Russian
India -
Suppose you want something created and you give written instructions/ideas to some scientist from any one of the mentioned countries and you are using a different language, I bet you my last dollar that they will translate your instructions/ideas into their native language before undertaking the task! This is because they think and understand better when using their own languages rather than a second language.

@Wkansepa, where you fail woefully to think rationally is that: the Japanese, Koreans, , Indians, Chinese etc did not wait for any European to come to their various countries to develop a system of wrting for them. They did it themselves. Kindly, give me a list of those in our native Ghana who are credited for creating a written languague in any of our numerous Akan languages , Ewe, Ga, Krobo etc prior to the arrival of Europeans on our shores? Have you even heard of Johannes Gottlieb Cristaller name in our history and what he did for us as a nation? We stupidly rant about the Koreans, Japanese, Chinese etc without rationally accepting the fact that our useless Kings centuries ago were more busy sacrificing innocent humans to their useless river gods on a daily basis than comissioning a few clever people to develop a system of wrtting. In my opinion, only daft people make such simplistic and irrational comparisons. I cannot count to a million in my own Twi Lsnguage. Maybe, you can help me with the Twi version for these basic Scientific words.. Biology, Bacteria, Chromosome, Amoeba, Osmosis, Physics, Chemistry. Me da wo ase paaa!

Excuse me to use this language, " Our leaders are fools" Why would you leave your language and learn someone's language, when you know very well that you can understand, communicate and learn better in your own language? Ghana, chew, pour, pass and forget (verbatim) educational system. No development and no hope.

@Kofi, When I went to scool many moons ago, the vast majority of our teachers were from the Volta Region who were posted to our area. They did not speak any of our Akan Languages. I can recall, the names of Miss Abutiate, Teacher Agbobada, Teacher Victor, Teacher Agobo etc. None , of them spoke Twi our native tongue, yet they managed to teach us in English without a problem. I mean from primary school. We are stupidly trying to fix something which is not broken. How does the Nzema teacher posted to Paga or Bawku teach the kids in their mother tongue. Ivorians do not whinge constantly about French being the bridge between their numerous languages. On the whole, English as a language has been a force for good globally. South Americans still speak their various languages from Mexico to Chile, yet they all use Spanish as their medium of Education. It works, and, they were colonised too.So, when people talk about our Mother Tongue in Ghana, whose mother tongue are they talking about? Ga is not the mother tongue of an Nzema, Ewe is not the mother tongue of a Dagomba nor that of an Awoin etc

Then why does almost every country in the world learn English? Even places that weren't colonized like Japan have to learn English. This is because English is the "world" language, but in U.S is no longer the trustworthy ally it used to be and if you take away American trustworthiness China is an okay plan B. Also it is not just China that speaks Mandarin, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, there are even lots of speakers in Vietnam. Mandarin may not be a world language but it is so pretty important language in Asia.

See below a post I read a while ago about Chinese language popularity in the USA.
Mandarin's popularity in the U.S. stems from rising immigration from mainland China, its status as a vital global business and diplomatic language, and its inclusion in school curricula to connect with a growing demographic and leverage economic opportunities in Asia. It serves as a cultural bridge for Chinese-American communities and offers strategic advantages in education and business, with spikes in interest often linked to cultural trends, such as social media platforms.
Key Drivers for Mandarin's Popularity:
Immigration & Demographics: Increased migration from mainland China and Taiwan has boosted Mandarin usage within Chinese-American communities, making it a significant cultural language alongside Cantonese.
Economic Importance: As China's global economic influence grows, Mandarin becomes a practical asset for international business, trade, and collaboration, opening doors in education and tourism.
Educational Value: Schools teach Mandarin to serve Chinese-American families and to prepare students for a globally connected world, recognizing its utility for interacting with East Asia.
Cultural Connection: Learning Mandarin helps Americans connect with Chinese culture and provides a gateway to understanding a significant part of the world's population.
Global Communication: Mandarin is the most spoken language in the world by native speakers, making it a valuable tool for global communication.
Examples of Growing Interest:
Language learning apps have seen surges in Mandarin users, sometimes linked to cultural phenomena like popular Chinese social media apps.
Universities are increasing collaborations with Chinese institutions, making Mandarin a bridge for academic exchange.
