It was neither a mediation nor an arbitration as neither of the feuding factions agreed to any outcomes. For me, this was just another political face saving exercise. Still struggling to understand why the revered King of the Asantes allowed himself to be manipulated by these self seeking politicians into this mess. Nana, you can do far better than this, please.

Do we have Kings in any Republic and does the president of Ghana actually understands the meaning of the word "Republic"?
We have a term for them to be addressed with.
Nana or Nananom.
And, Mr Amidu, do we have Kings in Our Republic to be addressed as His Majesty?
You are the constitutional expert, just tell us, will you?

They should compromise and by extension rotate who become chief in the area. Mamprusi rule for 5 years and give to Kusasi for 5 years. No chief should sell a land and use the money. The land sales should go to a development fund for the area.
All Kusasi and Mamprusi should go to farm or work to feed their families. No freebies from government.

Martin Amidu writes much without saying much, except to repeat the expressions “circus” and“intractable identity conflict”, and to attempt a non-existent dichotomy between “arbitration” and “mediation” without citing a single legal authority to support any of his assertions.
And the matter is very serious because of his very rich political background and academic expertise in the Bawku conflict. He proposes no solution nor fresh ideas on the pending issues except to ridicule the good faith effort to resolve this “intractable” problem.
His serpentine text should therefore be quickly dismissed as an exercise in concupicent and convulsive self-aggrandizement and arrant and arable self-indulgence.

Hello Mr. Amidu, I understand your pain and frstration but Nana Asantehene has set the tone for peace and whatever method he used should be legally studied. He is King and nana understands the dynamics and the thought process of Kings. You are a lawyer who has no clue about the psychology of Kings, not in the least. You think in Jurisprudence, Kings think with power and above the law. The strong wins whatever the course taken.
If I were you I would take a course of study in medaition from the Asantehene and his Akyeames. You will learn a lot from their wisdom.
It is also incumbent upon you to help bring these people together to live in peace.
Martin let me inform you that my wife is from Bawku a city I love but hate to live there because of violence.
The question and home I have for you is that how can peace be brought between two groups who refuse to listen to each other. Laws are just pieces of statement that exist on paper only to be implemented by people.
The only reason I see in the case is that both parties were not truthful to each other and have no regard and respect towards each other. We have to teach them.
