These polluted rivers did not happen overnight. The pollution has of these rivers has been carried on for decades, and the present and past Ghana government s have been aware of is menace caused by evil and greedy illegal mining criminals, yet nothing meaningful has ever been done to stop the illegal miners from polluting these waters and contaminating lands around these waters. It's the responsibility of government to act against these illegal miners, yet government after government keeps making promises without action. Sad to say, but government officials are aware that many of the hands behind illegal mining activities are chiefs, politicians, business men and women, elected officials, and they often have the protection of corrupt and crooked Police officers who are supposed to be arresting illegal miners but take bribes to look the other way. The various governments of Ghana carry an equal amount of blame as the galamsey operators responsible for polluting these rivers, for the lack of action by Ghana's governments has immensely contributed to
