Much of the corruption taking place in Ghana government, regardless of which political party is in power, results from the lack of transparency in government actions. It makes sense to probe outgoing government officials if there's evidence of corrupt acts by them. Also, every new administration will serve Ghana well by engaging in a forensic audit of government books to determine whether there had been misappropriation or misuse of funds that will warrant further investigation and potential prosecutions. much of the corruption taking place in government can be drastically reduced if there are laws mandating openness in all government agencies. Such openness will allow citizens and the media, especially, to have regular access to government spending. This will not only discourage government officials from engaging in corrupt practices while in office, it also will allow the public and the media the opportunity to call out corruption before it gets out of hand.

WHY NOT? ANY LEADER WHETHER NANA AKUFFO ADDO OR JOHN DRAMANI MAHAMA SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE IF FOUND CULPABLE. DEVELOPED COUNTRIES THAT WE THE UNDER DEVELOP AFRICAN COUNTRIES GO BEGGING FOR LOANS DO HOLD THEIR LEADERS ACCOUNTABLE. RECENT CASE IS FORMER FRENCH PRESIDENT SARKOZI. BUT IN AFRICA THE POLITICIANS ARE SO CORRUPT THAT THEY TRY TO COVER FOR EACH OTHER BY WRITING CONSTITUTION THAT BENEFITS THEM.
"SCRATCH MY BACK AND I SCRATCH YOURS"
Ghanaians have every reason to hold their leaders accountable, including President Akufo-Addo and his government. Accountability is essential in a democratic system, and citizens have the right to scrutinize their leaders' actions and decisions.
In fact, Ghana's Constitution empowers citizens to participate in the decision-making process and hold public officials accountable. The writer's argument is valid: if developed countries hold their leaders accountable, why shouldn't Ghana do the same?
Probing the government can help:
- Ensure transparency and accountability
- Prevent corruption and abuse of power
- Promote good governance and responsible leadership
- Build trust between citizens and government
Ghanaians should exercise their civic rights to demand accountability and good governance from their leaders.
