I hope every Northerner will find time to read this short piece. It's indeed disheartening to see so far what the blueprint of the current NDC with a northern President is putting out there. For me, developing the north is not about regravelling of dusty roads but requires structural change. The very institutions that have sparked development in the south need to be reproduced in the North. So far, I see the same old Mahama, the ditherer, and people pleasing president we found during his first term. it took the NPP to come and create a region for his own savannah region that is now virtually unmotorable. He has almost done a year, and his big push, smart city, energy Hub and market projects are not fit for northerners. We have seen this play book before with Liman.

Sometimes, when people say the south is more developed than the north, I piss off over such comments. What makes people think the south is more developed than the north? I have lived in France and Switzerland and that when we talk about development is not about the tall rise buildings and the flashy roads and other structures, but the ability of 90% of the citizens to access jobs and othet basic essential services. What is special and is in the south that is not in the north? Yes the level of these might be different, but for people to continue to redicule the north and its people as the poorest must stop. The region is only under exploited. There are gold reserve and other precious minerals that are yet to be discovered. The region has the potential of large oil reserve. There is plenty of sun that can sustain large solar power. The land is fertile and hold a great potential for drought resistant cash crops. Human resource abound. There are a lot of graduates, and many more opportunities.
