Traditional degrees became obsolete in 1997 (approximately). Some of us figured this out a long time ago when we became aware of the CONMEN called the African academic class along with the West's degree/certificate-selling business mafia.
This is why we opted to ditch post graduate studies for entrepreneurship and independent professional development. Obviously, why waste money on obsolete graduate degrees when you can make money by developing yourself professionally? Gave the same advice to my peers but too many were cowardly and trusted in the ponzi-scheme called academia as some sort of security blanket.
Fast forward to the 21st century and it is still evident that Africans haven't wised up (e.g. You still see Ghanaweb.com publishing articles about Ghanaian academic classes debating about someone's lousy PhD) . . . all in an atmosphere where most of them can't “deliver the goods” when it comes to producing tangible TECH and ECONOMIC results.
