Advanced countries can increase their retirement age to 80, that is their cup of tea. They have lots of job opportunities for the citizens. Ghana and other developing countries cannot copy the developed nations in the midst of teeming youth unemployment. Advice to workers in Ghana is to plan their retirement immediately they start working, so that they wouldn't be whining for increase in retirement age when they are due for retirement.

It would be suicidal to increase the retirement age. There is generally a shortage of labour in developed countries, so it makes sense to increase the age. Its opposite in the developing countries. A lot of unemployed skilled labour around. Should be even reduced. You can imagine the director of highways staying till 65 and still be taking 10% of every contract with defective construction. The youth must rise up against such wicked act.

KEEPING THE YOUTH POOR ALWAYS
All the Youths in Ghana should hit the streets and Parliament if ever, parliament tried to extend the retirement age in Ghana. .Ghana has a growing population with dire consequence of unemployment. The government and private investors should come up with extra investment fund for workers beside the SSNT. This should be voluntary unlike SSNT.
People who want retirement age extended, are those who never planned for retirement, during their active working stage of life.

I's a very bad idea because it won't change the dynamics of an exploitative state against the plight of ordinary pensioners.
1. It will allow the state to repatriate more of their labour to foreign countries.
2. It will enable governments and senior state operatives to increase their share of an already disproportionate size of the national using legislative instruments as is already happening.
3. It will reduce the level of independence and quality of live of hard working senior citizens.
4. It will lead to increased land-grab by foreigners and executives and deprive the communities of land to live on.
It is dangerous in the current situation.
The only solution lies in:
1. Reduce the stakes of the centralised by Regionalising the society to allow each region to implement innovative improvements to the quality of live of senior citizens.
2. Create more community investment pods targeted at senior citizens to improve their revenue base post retirement.
3. Apply Islamic type banking models to reduce taxation and increase for the entire society.
4. Conduct a national dialogue for more ideas.
