  l think this position must be devoid of Political influence, however, the other part will be if the head is opposed to the current government they can churn out figures that will give the current government wrong image as not performing thereby, the same way if the head is in favour of the government, they can give out figures that are in favour of the government but not what is in reality thereby not help in the development of the Nation.However, if the government has a good intention and appoint someone that can give them the data as it pertains in reality so that they can work to improve the lives of the people, then it will be the right move. just that we have unpariotic citizens carrying themselves about as politicians doing damages to the nation, just looting in the name of governance. Data is very important in the development of any serious institution for that matter any serious country. However, where data is used for politcal expediency then there is a big problem .
