The fact is that Nana Addo disillusioned himself by thinking that he has given Muslims a presidential candidate and so they will blindly vote for him. The NPP was very sure of winning and so didn't care about the citizenry. If not, why on earth will government bring food to farmers affected by draught and decide to keep the food in the National Buffer Stock for a long time. If the food had been distributed before the elections, it would have brought down the prices of food stuffs. Somebody thought they could keep the food so that when they retain power, they could steal the food and sell them. Secondly, the NPP government's refusal to heed to labour's twelve percent salary increase dealt the NPP a heavy blow. Again, this shows that the NPP was too sure of winning the elections and so decided to give Labour three percent and decided to bribe Labour leaders to keep quiet till after the elections. This was a misnomer in the annals of the Fourth Republican practice where incumbent governments use salary increment as a leverage to win more votes. Later, the Mahama government which won the elections massively and had nothing to lose offered ten percent.

A political party that has looting as the bedrock enshrined in their Constitution, and disguised as property-owning ideology, is a party that should never be allowed to come closer to power and national coffers. This was evidenced in the Kufour and Akuffo-Addo's regimes.
