It shocked me to know that the beautiful Ga language is gone. In those days all you hear in Accra is Ga. Now, I search for Ga in Accra. It's a shame.

This is funny. Twi is one of the Akan languages- The Akans constitute over 65% of Ghana's population. Within the Akans, Asantes constitute over 50% so where do you draw the line? Asante Twi is not spoken only in Ghana however,it is spoken across West Africa sub region.Research has shown that, after Hausa; the second spoken language in West Africa is Asante Twi. Although there are other Twi languages in Ghana, they preferred communicating in Asante Twi. Around the world, over 40 million people are speaking Twi. Either Fante, Bono, Sefwi, Nzema, Akuapem, Baule, Apoloo they come under one umbrella to speak Asante Twi. Baule and Apoloo are spoken in Ivory Coast and as they belong to the Akan group, they naturally speak Twi which is beyond one's understanding.Asante Twi is easy to learn and communicate. Even some Americans and Europeans speak Twi fluently. As a professional Interpreter, I have done thorough researches on languages so I know what I am talking about.
