Why wont they file as independent candidates. "NPP IN THIS CURRENT STATE IS UNATTRACTIVE" - Prof Frimpong Boateng. I strongly agree with prof. Akufo Addo/ Bawumiah & the cabal have destroyed the NPP & needs a reformation by some level headed persons. NOT a comedian, failed economic wizkid like Bawumiah.

Mr Oti-Asirifi, Article 97(1)(g) must be read and interpreted in whole and not in bits. Please pay attention to the concluding section of the Article and I quote, ".....or seeks to remain in Parliament as an independent".
In interpreting the Article, the question that must be asked and answered is, which parliament? Is it 2020 to 2024 Parliament or 2025 to 2029 Parliament?
The answer is very simple, an MP of the 2020-2024 Parliament is seeking to contest the December 2024 parliamentary election to be an independent MP in the 2025-2029 Parliament but not to remain as independent MP in the 2020-2024 Parliament.
For the above reason, Article 97(1)(g) is not applicable to the current parliament. However, if the MP wins as an independent but decides to join a political party during the term of the 2025-2029 Parliament then Article 97(1)(g) will be triggered but not at the moment because she is not seeking to remain in the current Parliament as an independent MP. In fact, she will continue to vote with the Majority until the 2020-2024 Parliament is dissolved.
