Coders, paa? This guy is several decades behind technology. He refuses to upgrade himself, but wants to talk big, like others do.

I suppose Mr Mahama had wanted to say "programming" but chose to use "coding" to make it sound more academic.

Forty years ago, "coding" would have been accepted when talking about "machine language", their interpreters, and codes that were not too user friendly. Even Fortran, Python, Basic etc, broke association from that reference. Since Bill Gates and his group entered the scene, they changed the vocabulary of the technology and introduced modern terms: "coding" metamorphized to "programming", such that use of the term "coding" was restricted to instances when talking about creating routines close to machine language.

I hesitate to add that AI routines could qualify for such classification, if I am not mistaken. Even if that was the case, one would doubt whether that was where Mr Mahama wanted to draw our attention to! At our current position in the digital world, what Ghana lacks is the ability to apply what technology is available to our developmental efforts. For example, we can apply existing technology to automate collection at toll booths, port taxes, etc, so as to limit instances of pilfering. Routines to achieve such feats do not fall into the "coding" family in modern technology speak!
