Copying things from the West does not make you visionary.
Credit scores will not, and again, will not work with our current infrastructure system. Dr. Bawumia will say anything to be elected. Sad.

First there are credit rating agencies in Ghana
Second, these agencies do score - XDS was scoring until the vice president lied and they had to pull down their website. The only difference has been the quality of the data used in the scoring, multiple identities, and the standardization. There is no novelty here. Banks, mobile companies, fintechs all use credit scores, they just don't tell you and like I indicated they are not standardised.
Third, there is a cost of credit and government or no idiot can force anyone to bear that cost. So instituting a standard credit scoring system is not the issue. The people need decent earning jobs, interest rates need to decline, people need better attitudes towards credit and then the private sector itself will drive things. Use your heads guys, you have been lied to for so long. Mo nnyae gyimie no.

I didn’t learn anything from this article that I didn’t know already or google will not give me. What I expected was how this will work in Ghana under the current financial infrastructure. As a doctoral researcher writing this, I expect data driven arguments and convincing analysis as to why you think this would work. At the end of the day, this write up looks like an no-brainer piece from a person on the payroll of the NPP.
Interesting read.
