Anyone who thinks Mahama is a better choice than Bawumia is simply impaired in their judgement. Also, anyone who blames Bawumia for the current global economic crisis is senseless. It's just like blaming Kamala Harris for the inflation in USA right now. No matter what position she may hold in the cabinet, it's the president who gets the blame. So, for NDC to continue to blame Bawumia tells Ghanaians that NDC has no vision and only depending on pure propaganda. The whole world is facing an economic meltdown ... look what is happening in Kenya and other parts of the world. Bawumia, even as VP, has performed better and given a better account of himself than Mahama. Bawumia's vision for the nation which he has been spreading in his campaign trail shows a man on a mission. He doesn't spent much time talking about John Mahama. Now, NDC is trying to steal Free SHS as their initiative ...TOTALLY ABSURD AND INSANE!!! NDC REALLY BELIEVES THAT GHANAIANS HAVE SHORT MEMORY THAT WE HAVE FORGOTTEN HOW THEY COMPOSED SONGS TO SAY FREE SHS IS A 419 SCAM. GO TO YOUTUBE AND YOU WILL FIND THAT VIDEO.

So you call this excuse of an opinion a point. What makes Bawumia not responsible or accountable to Ghanaians for his visionless and irresponsible claims when he can take credit for the good of the government. The only justification was for him to have apologize and resigned and not behave as if he had solution to every problem in this world. This is a desperate man who made only wants to taste presidency like Akuffo Addo . Any leader who fails to take responsibility and be proactive is not fit to lead.

Who wrote this article? Ignorance at display!! Ehh! Where did you get the data from? Mahama/Mills met a debt-to-GDP ratio of 32% (in 2006 constant prices) and pushed it to 71% in 2014. Ghana's debt remained unsustainable at 72.8% in 2015 and 73.4% in 2016! GHANA'S DEBT WAS UNSUSTAINABLE IN THE THREE OF THE MAHAMA'S FOUR YEARS! We ran to the IMF in April 2015 when the economy grew at 2.1%, THE LOWEST SINCE 1983! Debt-to-GDP fell to 69.8% in 2017 and Ghana was out of the DANGER! The ECONOMY WAS REBASED in 2018 and we moved from 2006 to 2013 constant prices. GDP became 24.2% BIGGER and the debt-to-GDP fell. Indeed, what would have been 73.4 in 2016 became 55.9% (new series). This crawled to 62.5% at the end of 2019. the economy grew at 6.5% and the fiscal deficit of 9.3% in 2016 fell to 4.7% in 2019. After the global economic crises, the highest debt-to-GDP had been 92% (in 2022)! IT IS NEVER TRUE THAT GHANA's DEBT-TO-GDP has ever been 100% under Akuffo Addo! It was Rawlings who left a debt-to-GDP ratio of 182% in 2000! Today, Ghana's debt-to-GDP is 74% and is supposed to fall significantly after successful debt restructuring. The economy grew at 4.7% during the year's first quarter (2024)! This is far higher than the last quarterly growth rate (from October to December) of 4.1% Mahama left in 2016! AKUFFO ADDO's MANAGEMENT OF THE ECONOMY IS FAR FAR BETTER!!
IGNORANCE AND LIES are our problem. I know they will insult me out of ignorance! Too bad for Ghana

@ Economist ... this is statistics which cannot lie. Everyone can fact-check it. In 2019, CNN, ABC News, Fox News and many other American mainstream media houses declared Ghana to be one of the fastest growing economies in the WORLD ... not AFRICA but the WORLD. Foreigners were coming to Ghana in bunches. The year of return brought much gains to the hospitality industry in Ghana. Then in 2020, Covid-19 hit very hard and the whole world was on a lockdown. President Akuffo Addo did a marvelous job in keeping Ghanaians safe. He even said, " I don't have the power to bring people back to life if they die, but we can surely bring back the economy" ... what did he mean by that? Basically, he meant, he would sacrifice the economy to safeguard the lives of Ghanaians. In 2021, the economy was gradually rebounding but unfortunately, 2022 came around and then Russia invaded Ukraine. This war also brought about shockwaves that shook the whole world economically, just like Covid-19. So, anyone who doesn't acknowledge that these external forces had impacted global economies including Ghana is simply ignorant of world events. We're living in a GLOBAL VILLAGE whereby an event can happen in part of the world and within hours, the effect of it would be felt across the world. NDC can go ahead and blame Bawumia but Ghanaians can never forget Covid-19 and how Nana Addo vowed to save Ghanaian lives. All the NDC people enjoyed free electricity and water for months. Today, the same people are blaming the government. Indeed, Ghanaians do have short memories ... HOW CAN WE FORGET SO SOON!!!
