The quickest way to change that mindset of viewing the arts with a fogged lenses is for the Ministry of Arts and Culture to set up a fund that will have Ghana artists give public service presentations on essence of encouraging children to participate in the arts at an early stage. These artists could also have town hall meetings around the country with parents to let these parents know the benefits of children freely participating in the arts. Many in Ghana who were highly gifted musicians and guitarists ended up getting into other academic fields because of the unwarranted stigma placed on the arts by their parents. These students who pursued other a disciplines became very successful, but imagine the great addition they could have been to Ghana's arts culture had they been allowed by their parents to pursue the arts. The arts should also be taught starting at the elementary school level. Funding can be an issue, but schools could get together and arrange to have students in different schools in the same community taught by one arts teacher whose teaching times will be divided between schools.
