Unfortunately, the NP and NDC will continue to dominate the political scene in the country. This is because the rest of the parties in Opposition are mainly parties on paper, with their leaders only showing up to make noise when national elections come around. If these smaller Opposition parties were to come together to formulate a strategy on keeping whichever party is in office accountable, the country would benefit tremendously from that effort. Once the national elections are over, the smaller parties disappear into their hibernation holes, never to be heard from again till the next election cycle when they again come out like worms after the rains have fallen. It takes a constant watch on a government to ensure accountability and good governance. The many other parties in Opposition can make any difference as long as they continue operate as small parties with differing ideologies. If Ghana is to have a viable third contending political party, the smaller Opposition parties will have to put aside their difference and come together to form a united front as a the nation's third political political party.
