First, we have to thank the Portuguese for most of our staples. They brought us Mango, Plantain, Tomatoes, Cocoyam, Cassava, Cocoa and a lot more. None, of the listed staples were indigenous to Africa and definitely not in your imagined "Gyaman Enclave". That, am afraid is a
fat lie! Even the ubiquitous "Neem Tree" was brought to Ghana by Guggisberg from India. We have to give credit where credit is due.
