Why cheapen yourselves to be taken for fools, o fellow Ghanaians?

Former President John Dramani Mahama Former President John Dramani Mahama

In the political and everyday life of the Ghanaian, most of us are seen to have cheapened ourselves to be taken for complete fools by politicians, traditional chiefs, and academics.

Do I blame those few in society for taking the majority for nincompoops? No, and no!

Today, a politician comes to tell you to your face that during an electioneering campaign he will tell you half-truths, a bit of truth and lies provided they will turn your heart towards him to vote for him. You clap your hands for him in concurrence; and aspire to see him voted into office. Are you not by this level of your displayed ignorance permitting him to take you for a fool?

Today, a politician comes to you and out of complete disrespect for you, tells you to the face that you have a short memory, all the while of his display of outright disrespect for you and exhibition of callousness towards you, but you still yearn for seeing him in power, sorry, are you not a damn fool?

A politician who mounts a series of paid adverts to counter his opponent’s farsighted social intervention policies and programmes, rubbishing them, claiming they are not feasible let alone, being possible to realize, comes back a few years later after its successful implementation, to claim he rather initiated and implemented the programme. Will you not be a fool to applaud him for his lies blatantly being told to your face?

You know, fellow Ghanaians, and I know, how the ongoing illegal small-scale and alluvial mining (galamsey) is destroying the water bodies, fertile and arable lands, virgin forests, and cash crops in Ghana, yet, a selfish, greedy, visionless, and shallow-minded politician is campaigning to resource the miners to expand their activities that have the potency to cost Ghana dearly in not too distant future.

Are you not cheapening yourselves to be taken for fools should you support such a politician in his aspirations to become the president of Ghana come election on 7 December 2024?

This politician has out of disrespect for you and me, and his lack of wisdom and common sense, told to the face of Ghanaians numerous denigrating statements and things yet, out of political partisanship and polarisation, many a Ghanaian is rallying behind in his comeback for the presidency.

Will you not be a complete nutter to not only wish, but campaign and cast your vote, for such a politician?

This politician in the person of NDC presidential candidate John Dramani Mahama is 90% deficient in knowledge about policies and programmes able to put Ghana on a pedestal of socio-economic development. He is merely a populist politician not well-grounded in the dynamics of nation-building and development politics but following and identifying with the expressed concerns by the public which ordinarily are not based on facts as pertained in ongoing worldwide situations.

If you buy into his lies, lowering yourselves to swallow hook, line, and sinker all that John Mahama tells you in his desperation to win political power, then have yourselves to blame for cheapening yourselves to be taken for complete idiots.

John Dramani Mahama is a complete liar. Is there anyone out there ready to take the writer on an intellectual debate on the misfit status of Mr Mahama as a would-be president of Ghana?
