Scanning through all the condolences trying to find one from a Political heavyweight in Ghana, I coudn't find his name and I have searched through all the wires but came up empty. I t was when reading Mr Emile Short condolence message that I got a hint of maybe a misology between Komla and the person I was looking for a message from and this is where I got a hint of maybe a bad blood existing between the two.
"Former head of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice Emile Short has admitted being dazzled by Komla Dumor during investigation into the Social Security and National Insurance Trust scandal that hit the country in the early 2000."
Dumor was the lead crusader into the corruption allegation against the national trustee having first aired details of the corruption allegation on the Super Morning Show in the year 2000.The case went before the Commission for Human Rights and Administration Commission before proceeding to the court of law. That story and several others shot Komla Dumor to fame in Ghana before being poached by the BBC. That is when I shouted, EUREKA!!!!.
I then started reading comments on this condolence message from Mr Short trying to find what this SSNIT case was all about when this guy was the President of Ghana. Unfortunately I couldn't find it but I read a comment from a contributor on the the comments section that gave me a hint of maybe a bad relationship between Komla and President Rawlings.
"Author:Jumbo Date:2014-01-21 11:54:04 Comment to:WHY IS RAWLINGS QUIET ABOUT KOMLAS DEATH
Rawlings has always been resentful towards Komla did you not know?"
Why is that? I then did a research to find out what that SSNIT case was all about but I couldn't find it.
Fortunately I am well aware of a case where SSNIT funds running into tens of millions of dollars were loaned to one Irish man to purchase one of the state hotels in Ghana during Rawlings "DONKOMI" wholesale of Ghana industries and factories through the influence of Rawlings and his wife Nana Konadu Agyeman who were friends with this Irish businessman who failed to pay for this loan. It was rumoured that the Rawlingses benefitted handsomely from this deal including a mansion built for them in Dublin, Ireland from this fraudulent transaction.
I don't know if this was the case that has stuck in the memory of Ghanaians because of how perspicuous Komla was but no matter what it was, President Rawlings known for his unforgiven character even in death(Read his constant castigation of President Mills)should mourn with Ghanaians for losing one of its illustrious sons.
