'Papa's Sheen'

Indeed, "a man's enemies are the members of his own household" (Micah 7:6). Micah made this sobering statement during a time when Israel and Judah had sunk in moral decay. The very place meant to be the safest—the family—had become a battleground. The corruption in that society had crept into the home, breaking down the sacred bonds that once held families together.

When selfishness and greed are allowed to fester within a family, love turns cold, and members begin to see each other as rivals. This reminds me of a particular family that allowed personal ambition rise to the surface after their head (Papa) passed away. In the scramble for inheritance, their court battles nearly dimmed the legacy of a man whose light had shone across nations.

But something remarkable happened. When the children from the "2 packs" of the fractured family, finally came together to bury their father, Daddy's sheen (shine) glowed even brighter. “Behold, how good and pleasant it is when [siblings] dwell together in unity” (Psalm 133:1, emphasis mine).

May no family forget to “Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues, put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity” (Colossians 3:13–14).

Let every family guard its glow. Let Papa’s sheen shine on.

Enjoy the grace of God!
Amen!
