When Kwesi Abu was asked about his faith, he boldly declared that he’s an atheist.
Yes, he thinks there is no God.
But how can anyone gaze upon the complexities of this world and not recognise the fingerprints of a Supreme, Intelligent Creator behind it all?
If it’s unthinkable for artificial things like phones, cars, or aircraft to exist without a designer, how much more is it unthinkable for the entire universe to exist without a Maker?
Interestingly, Abu, a young adult, was once a Christian.
But ever since he openly took his atheistic stand, he has lived wildly and shamelessly.
Could it be that his once-professed faith in Christ was what previously restrained him?
If so, I doubt that Abu truly disbelieves in God.
Rather, he dislikes God—or more accurately, he hates Him (Rom. 8:7).
Yes, Abu hates God—for who He is, what He represents, and what He expects from the creatures made in His image.
In Christ, we are called to set our minds on the Spirit's will (Rom. 8:5) and discipline our bodies into submission to our Lord (1 Cor. 9:27).
Sadly, Abu has chosen instead to be enslaved by his reckless desires—a path that leads to death (Rom. 8:13; Eph. 2:1).
What’s ironic is that Abu claims he is now “free” because no religion controls him.
But he forgets: he is now in cruel bondage, chained by his lusts (Rom. 6:17).
In this, Abu doesn’t trick anyone but himself.
True freedom—true life—comes through submission to Christ, who redeems us from "ourselves" (Psa. 51:5; Rom. 6:18).
Beloved, don’t fall into the trap of tricking yourself.
Those who claim there is no God often do so not out of reason, but rebellion—rejecting His holy standards, which they refuse to submit to.
But I urge you: choose life in Christ.
If you truly desire life, believe in Christ (Rom. 10:10), repent (Acts 2:38), confess Him (Rom. 10:10), be baptized (Acts 22:16; 1 Pet. 3:21), be added to His church (Acts 2:47), and walk in newness of life (Rom. 6:4).
Enjoy the grace of God!
Amen!
