Mrs. Mould Iddrisu, Ashamed Of Being Asante, Choose To Be A Ga

"...Sometimes when I listen to the radio and I hear the things that are said on the radio, I feel pained, I feel pained that I am an Ashanti. I wonder why we can't value what we have. I wonder why we can't acknowledge that in Africa, Ghana is number one and among the top five countries," she stressed.

--Betty Mould Iddrisu, Ndc Vice-Chairman--

Mrs. Betty Mould Iddrisu might have alexithymia to resort to this self degrading of one's own roots or the genesis of her shame of being an Asante is not because of what the media in Ashanti region reports about her Ndc achievements but is rooted in her personal shame of being a third wife to a Dagomaba man despite her education. Let me make it clear here. There is nothing wrong for an Asante woman to be married to a Dagomba man who are closely related to Asantes but to be a third wife to a man whether Asante or Ewe shows a low self esteem in my estimation.

As a matter of fact, Madam Betty Mould Iddrisu should not be ashamed to be an Asante, she can choose to be a Ga since her father is a Ga and she wouldn't have to feel this shame.

How does the radio stations report of Ndc so called achievements in Ashanti region makes one ashamed of being an Asante is proving difficult for me to understand unless you Mrs. Betty Mould Iddrisu has ben infected by a disease ravaging Ndc adherents called "Ashantiphobia"

When I first heard of Mrs. Betty Mould Iddrisu in 2008 during the Presidential elections, I was so impressed about this woman's academic and professional achievements I thought she might one day end up being the first woman President of Ghana but her performance as the Attorney General and how she handled the Woyome case exposed her as a lot of brains lacking wisdom or being corrupt.

As I said earlier, Madam Iddrisu unlike a lot of us has a choice of what she wants to be. She is lucky to have a Ga father, a Lebanese grandfather and Asante mother. She can choose to be a Ga, Asante or Lebanese if she want or in extreme case, can adopt her husband's Dagomba heritage and nobody will lose a sleep over it. If she is ashamed of being an Asante, maybe the feeling is mutual since some of us Asantes are also ashamed of her because of many things including the way she disgraced Asantes in how she handled the Woyome case.

Even her apology a day ago came with qualifiers;

"Responding to the public reaction to her comments, the former Education minister told Accra-based Neat FM Tuesday that even though she believes her comments have been twisted by the media, she nonetheless apologises for them.I am a true Ashanti and would not turn my back on my heritage. My words were twisted and would want to say sorry to all who have been hurt as a result of my statements," she stated. "

Madam Iddrisu, we all heard you loud and clear on the radio, nothing was twisted and you should own up to what you said. If you are ashamed of being an Asante, choose to be a Ga, you have that privilege
