The Mampong Traditional Council has said it will conduct a mass burial for unclaimed bodies at the Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital morgue after a month as bodies keep piling up at the facility due to the ban on funerals as part of measures to adhere to social distancing protocols to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus.

Although persons are allowed to hold private burials with up to 25 mourners, most families are still keeping their deceased loved ones in morgues until the ban is lifted.

This has led to congestion in most of the country’s morgues.

The Police Hospital in Accra recently announced aq similar action of mass burial in order to decongest the morgue.

The Mampong Traditional Council has given persons a month to reclaim the bodies of their loved ones at the hospital.
