Francophone Fortnight opens next week

Accra, Mar 11, GNA - The ninth edition of the Quinzaine de la Francophonie, (a French Festival) is slated for March 14 to March 25, 2005 with a variety of cultural events featuring artists from Africa, Europe, North America, Asia and the Middle East.

The event, Francophone Fortnight, under the aegis of the French Embassy in Accra would have a workshop with Ghanaian and Francophone artists on the theme: "Recycling".

A statement by the Embassy said the Drama Department of the University of Ghana would perform in French, the adaptation of Le Tartuffe by Moliere.

A conference would be held as part of the celebrations. It would focus on cultural diversity; gourmet night and a children's show at the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park are the other items on the bill.
