VGMAs: I was shocked when I lost 7 awards on a night – Ofori Amponsah

Multiple award-winning musician Ofori Amponsah has disclosed his shocking experience with then Ghana Music Awards as the 20th anniversary of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards edges closer.

Over the years, many artistes have been trolled on social media over their inability to win awards of all the categories they were nominated for in the VGMA’s.

According to the multiple award-winning artiste, he had seven nominations at the Ghana Music Awards with his hit album dubbed “Asew” but was stunned after he took nothing home.

Well, during this time, the internet hadn’t come of age so he wasn’t mocked like others who lost horribly due to the emergence of social media.

It can be recalled that in 2017, rapper Medikal had eight nominations but took home nothing on the awards night.

In an interview, the ‘Sardine’ hitmaker recalled how stunned he was after he went to the venue with friends who came to support him and later took nothing home.

“I had seven nominations and I won none at GMA awards… I went with girls and friends and I took home nothing on the night”.
