Ghana’s favourite stage play producers Roverman are poised to take their audience into uncharted territory by introducing a new style – a four-cast play.

Following a successful showing of a one-cast production cast by non-other but the Chief Executive Officer, James Ebo Whyte, affectionately known as Uncle Ebo, Roverman will premier their new stage play titled ‘Dora Why’ acted by a four-member crew at the National Theatre.

Speaking in an interview with www.ghanaweb.com during their final rehearsal, Uncle Ebo revealed that the play would introduce three debutants to the audience and stressed that patrons were in for a thrill, life lessons entwined with laughter as usual.

He also indicated that for the first time in their productions, about 60% of the songs which will be used will be Ghanaian ones in order to promote the local industry.

“I’m putting three people on stage who have never been on stage before; three people for whom this is going to be their very first production. The story is played by just four people… the enthusiasm with which they come to it, the freshness.. that brings with it its own dynamism for the theatre.

The songs that we’re using for these are the kind of songs that people will be singing long time after they’ve left here; simple songs, favourite songs for many people. We’re using more and more of Ghanaian lyrics and songs for our plays as against when we began when almost every songs were foreign.

…we have about 60% of the songs being Ghanaian songs with two of them being our own compositions”, Ebo Whyte explained.

‘Dora Why’ is a story centered on forgiveness and will be premiered on 6th and 7th April with the showing times being 4PM and 8PM.

The play will be shown again during the Easter weekend with the same showing times.
