You may have heard a particular name of a designer on the lips of some celebrities in showbiz, Shika Geo-Glavee, the brain behind Shik Collection.

Just like many great entrepreneurs, who started from a very humble beginning, Mrs. Geo-Glavee, is one of such people whose business ideas began in the four corners of her room.

Mrs. Geo-Glavee spoke with Ghanaweb's Bernice Owusuwaa about what it takes to run a business straight out of your room and basically live the life.

She revealed how she worked her way from the bottom all the way to the top.

"Shik Collection has been in existence for about 11 years. I began sewing from my living room, moved to the porch and with time the business was becoming big so I had to move to the store. It hasn't been rosy from the start", she told Ghanaweb.

On her journey to success, one major challenge she faced was getting committed and dedicated workers.

"You can do all this by yourself, you need people to help you do it. You create and design. You can't sit by the machine and do it all by yourself," she said.

An approach she used was requesting for student interns to help her during their training session.

"I usually get students from Accra Poly as student interns. They come in to help for 2 to 5 months. It was just recently I got two dedicated tailors to assist me," she disclosed.

When the host, Bernice Owusuwaa asked her about the inspiration behind her designs, she responded, "I gather my inspiration from the environment, fabric and what I see around me".
