Its interesting how black people treat each other. Many European tourists to this country are never treated in such disrespectful manner. Imagine!!!! You have just made a contribution of almost R40000 into that economy and yet other Africans see your presence as a threat. If Africans don't change their attitudes towards one another we will never progress. Period!!!!

its actually fully because those Ghana people are the one who always come to immigration with some fucked up notes visiting their illegal families here. The very same Ghana people who are extorting money from people with their social media scams right here at the airport. Everyday on the flight from Ghana there are atleast 10 Ghana ladies who are here and don't even know who bought them tickets to RSA. Ghana people are the most people who over stays or come into the country and never leaves.

My wife (Japanese) with valid residence permit, all documentation correct often tries to get bribes extracted from her when travelling through that airport, but she knows her docs are up to scratch so says no until the attempted bribes go away.

Please, please raise the matter with the South Africa Department of Home Services. This is a behaviour and habit they do not tolerate at all. A few horrible, self-entitled idiots are giving the country a very bad name and spoiling the reputation of most of the hard working officers. A letter to the home office asking for a response would also do them a real service so no other traveller should go through what you have gone through. This behaviour not only shames South Africa, but hurts every African elsewhere when it is assumed that Africans cannot be trusted with the most simplest of tasks, that African men are so cheap that they will even squeeze coins as long as it is free money.

I had the same experience when visiting Ghana a month ago. I got of the plane at Accra and all my belongings including my passport confiscated by immigrations. I was escorted by one of their security officers to go and draw630 Ghana cedes for me to be allowed in Ghana. I kept on showing them my business visa but was treated with disrespect untill i paid the monies. I then was asked for another 100 cedes to pay the security officer that eacorted me to the atm.I now have two of the same visas in my passport. So please dont cry in my country cos i got the same treatment in yours.

If u had all your documents and requirements to enter the country in order, this ordeal might have been avoided. how do u explain booking 1 night accommodation when staying 10 days in a country, am sure u have never tried this stunt while travelling to Europe or USA, so why do it here in SA? Get your shit together and respect our boarders the way you respect white borders then u won't be paying bribes.

This is just not about corruption of an airport official but about the culture of corruption rampant in SA fostered by the ANC which is the governing party. Despite its protestations against all evil including corruption it does not have the morality, efficiency & political will to fight corruption because it has become so deeply embedded into the moral fabric of society and anchored in politics. It's starts at the top with the President right to the very lowest rank of worker. Tragically It is rapidly on its way to being a failed state.

Corruption is a No No, in whichever country one finds ut. It is a sickness that eats into the very core of the pride of a nation. Any nation. I wish the blogger could have taken photos of the official at the airport and exposed him/her. It hurts me to the core, when people criticise Africa in general and South Africa in particular, for corruption. Africans are a people with dignity. It is fools such as the one the blogger encountered at the airport, that give our wonderful continent an ugly name. Next time take photos folks if you can. Lets clean up the continent.
