Inasmuch as I think Yvonne Nelson has some valid points, I feel her conclusions leave much to be desired.
I understand her frustration with corporate bodies refusing to support the arts, but that's where players in the industry have to be innovative.
Before the advent of new technologies like Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Video a lot of indie movie makers were struggling mightily(a lot still do), but with all these outlets craving a lot of new, original content and concepts, it's created a boom in new shows and movies.
You don't have to go through the Hollywood mafia to pitch your ideas anymore, and these giants are willing to pay good money for good content, including international movies.
My question here is with the proliferation of so many TV stations in the country, what's preventing our movie makers from pitching sitcom and movie ideas to them?
There are also new shows that are solely on Youtube etc with a huge following. Social media has democratized the world, if you have a good product to sell and it's well packaged, the world is your stage.
Let not corporate Ghana dictate the extent of your success Sister Yvonne.

What we see in Ghallywood and Kumawood is either voodoo or amorous intrigues. Same plots are recycled day in day out. Plus the language, especially in the local lingo is full of expletives. What can change with corporate sponsorship? There is lack of ingenuity in the local film industry and those in the industry have to see it and correct it before anyone would spend a dime sponsoring such thrash.

It is a well known fact that Nigerians are way ahead in enterprise. You can say what you like but that's the truth and a fact. We need to step up our games instead of insulting and being hypocrites
